Sweet, I'll have broadband by then, and give my dialup modem to some poor kid on Halloween.

Now for the million dollar question: will the servers stand up to sheer number of n00bs that will flood them within the first days? Glad I won't be around to relive that mess.

HAHAH!!
AC9 that Calvin and Hobbes pic is GOLD STAR!
I actually spit on my screen with laughter.

Oh, and Oct. 24th. That's a little over a month away. Could it possibly be true? Is it really going to be released then? What will happen?
*cough*
I think I feel a sore throat coming on. I just might be too sick that day to come to work.
*cough*

with the release under 2 weeks away I feel that effort needs to be made for more practical concerns:

I have a headset that's been gathering dust for the year since the end of my final fantasy days. Anyone up for setting up ventrillo?

Yeah, voice chat is going to be a must. I'm not stopping the action to type in shit for this game.

Posted by: AC9breaker Oct 10 2006, 04:15 AM

Well as it is, there already is an Official Apocalypse Tribe Vent server. But thats a members only thing. I've been planning on hosting my own server that I plan to use for my own things, but I will more then welcome anyone I know and trust to use it. So when the time comes, hit me up or PM me or whatever and we'll talk. One thing I have to say though, its much more fun to type in PSU then voice chat. Me and Donkey haves atested to this already in the time we've played on the JP servers. PSU chat system isn't as lame as FFXI where its just presented as stuff you gotta read at the bottom of the screen.

Although there has been no official announcement from me, like Breaker said, there is a vent server already set up for AT. It currently only has 10 slots, but the AT Disaster Fund still has cash in it, so I can bump up the maximum users if more than 10 people want to use it. Anyone that posts here is welcome to log on to the server. If you don't have the info, send me a PM, and I'll hook you up. at-emote1.gif

We now have a 50 slot Vent server waiting for us. I'll make an informative post tomorrow after I receive the info.

You rock, Dive! guitarist.gif

Do you know if Vent is OSX friendly?
If so, could I hook up with my PC friends?

Posted by: AC9breaker Oct 11 2006, 09:01 AM

I'm sure there are Mac versions of Vent online. But the input/Output settings are different. I think Kazichit may be able to help you with that, since i remember he got on Vent with us one evening when we first tested it out.

Edit: Heres a link to Mac OSX client download,

With a little but of server tweaking we can get mac clients to work. We'll have a vent setup and troubleshooting discussion when we have our aim meeting. I'll post up an information and setup topic when I get home this evening.

Aye, the OS X client works just fine and can connect with PC client users. The only thing was at the time we needed to choose a differnt defult codec, differnt from the PC default. After some messing around we did get it to work, but some of the members sounded bad with static problems. I'm sure with a little more tweeking it'll work out though.

After alot of weirdness (mostly on my part) I was able to get Vent running on my Mac. There is no help online from Vent and there is no help in the software either so I was mainly just flippin' switches to see what worked. I could hear everyone just fine, but I couldn't talk. I figured out that I need to switch a Sound Control Panel to the right input setting.
My only concern was that it seemed to go dead quiet often. So, I think I was missing out on some conversations. I wasn't seeing the speaker icons go green, so it didn't "look" like anyone was talking, but it just seemed like it was too quiet for too long.
The quality was amazing, however. You guys sounded like we were in the same room. It was better than my land phone. Is there a setting to take down the quality and therefor, maybe, improve speed? I could see a selection for outgoing, but not for incoming.

Voice chat is the wave of the future!

I can't wait to swear!!!! After my mom goes to bed, that is.

Its gonna be alot of good times come the 26!

Word on the street is that the game doesn't even have a game key printed anywhere, and that you don't need one to sign up.

Posted by: Knightsword Oct 24 2006, 03:55 PM

yea, it works like psobb infact you have to go through the psobb payment site for psu, even though I can't get the game till tomorrow I did buy the 180 day license, the 180 day license is 49.99 and you get the first month free (210 days) then it gets billed for 180 days and a 9.99 monthly license and you only get 15 days free with that.
