So a little background on what made me think of this. I was watching some Segata Sanshiro commercials last week. You know, the greatest man in history? If you have no idea who that is, then you need to click this link NOW. Anyway, the Shining Force III commercial in particular sparked nostalgia. I thought to myself, "wow, what a great game that was." So I wouldn't get my ass kicked for clubbing instead, I hooked up my Saturn and played the game again. Just yesterday I finished it, and it's still as fantastic as it was 9 years ago. And that's when I remembered this thread, the top 10 thread. The second page, at least on my computer is kind of funky, but changing the board theme helps view it. I was surprised to NOT find Shining Force III (and its other 2 scenarios as well) on my list. I assume it's because it had skipped my mind, or that in between then and now, it's been 4 years haha. In gaming time, 4 years is a lot of time so, I thought I'd update with a longer list. My list isn't in order, except for the first 2, which are indeed my 2 favorite games EVER. Anyway, here's my 2k7 list haha.

1. Capcom VS SNK 2 (Multiple)
2. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
3. PSO/PSU (Multiple)
4. Super Smash Bros. Melee (I don't want to mention what my play clock for me and my friends is on this game >_<) (GC)
5. Streets Of Rage 2 (Genesis)
6. Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES/GBA)
7. Soul Calibur Series... but the soul still burns. (Multiple)
8. Guardian Heroes (Saturn)
9. Dragon Force (Saturn)
10. Shining Force III Scenario's 1-3 (Saturn)
11. Parappa The Rapper, because my style is rich, dope phat in which, we'll make a cake today that looks rich! (PS1)
12. Jet Set/Grind Radio (DC)
13. Final Fantasy III (VI) (SNES)
14. Virtua Fighter Series Multiple)
15. Guitar Hero Series (PS2 for me haha)
16. Star Fox 64 Do a barrel roll! (N64)
17. NiGHTS (Saturn)
18. Super Mario 64 (N64)
19. Valkyrie Profile (PS1)
20. Resident Evil 4 (Multiple)

I'd say that's a pretty good list of my favorite games ever. And yeah I know it's 20, but getting it all in at 10 is hard haha. Anyway, what's everyone elses? Sega Saturn SHIRO!

Somehow managaed to get a what I felt was a pretty solid list of 10. A lot of good games have come out since last we've done these and I'm intersted in seeing what new games we will see on the list.

1. Shadow of The Colossus
2. Monster Hunter
3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
4. Einhander
5. Streets of Rage 2
6. Street Fighter 3rd Strike
7. Halo
8. Final Fantasy VII
9. Resident Evil 4
10. Elite Beat Agents

#1 This is what every game should aspire to be. Fun, beautiful, & meaningful. I must have beaten this game at least 20 time already and I still play through it occasionally. Its such a powerful game that blends everything about this game into one powerful experience.

#2 Take the Epic aspects of Shadow of the Colossus, throw some online features, use some creative licenses to give players the chance to give life to their character and you got such a fun, casual friendly hardcore geared, online epic game. although I feel the game has many flaws its a solid game through and through and share alot of similar qualities with Shadow of the Colossus to make it to number 2.

#3 It was pretty hard for me NOT to give this game the number 1 spot, but after alot of consideration I feel this is the place it earned. The story was without a doubt powerful. Playing through this game is definitely an experience and everything is just so masterfully weaved together. Ultimately though it came down to apples and oranges and the online features. While Online was totally a blast, the experience delivered from it isn't quite the same as something like Monster Hunter. I mean, sure you would get into some really intense firefighter, Jumping out of corners or being pinned down behind a pillar or box and taking them out, even some awesome sniper duels in some of the bigger stages. But its just a different experience altogether and i found I would Prefer Monster Hunter more then MGS3. Hopefully once MGS4 drops we'll get even greater online modes.

#4 Future, Shooter, Suicide Mission, Need I say more? Oh yeah, badass music.

#5 Classic, I don't need to say anything more.

#6 This has to be the Apex of 2d Fighter games. I rate all other 2d fighting games by comparing it to this. Since its release, nothing has come close to touching it.

#7 The original game that started a cultural phenomenon. Eagerly waiting to finish the fight on Halo 3

#8 I'm a fanboy, sue me.

#9 Shoot a zombie in the face, jump out a window, roundhouse kick 3 zombies in the face, push a barrel down the hill shoot it to explode it and kill 5 zombies at the same time, jump over a face and blast away at a zombie driving a truck trying to run you over.

#10 Jumpin' Jack Flash and a YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!

1. Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
2. Super Smash Brothers Melee
3. Oblivion
4. Mega Man 2
5. Resident Evil 4
6. Zelda Link to the Past
7. Monster Hunter
8. Final Fantasy IV
9. Suikoden II
10. Guitar Hero II

1* Just beautifully written. Perfect blend of gameplay, story, acting, and humor. I loved everything about this game. The online mode is moreso seperate. This is the game that made me decide to bust 600 bones on a PS3 just for MGS4

2* My favorite none online multi-player game. I don't have to go into details, you should already know about this game, and why i love it.

3* I actually hated this game for like 16 hours before I finally started to like, then love it. I enjoyed it enough to go through nearly every quest, and unlovked eveyr 360 achievement.

4* A classic, and a game that's been able to entertain me ever since I was about 5 or 6 years old.

5* As I was starting to lose faith in my gaming spirit, this game showed up and kicked the shit out of that doubt and I had fun with literally every second of this game.

6* Another classic where the fun never ends! I'm getting bored of writing summaries, so they'll be brief!

7* Read AC's piece. It's just a fun badass, epic game. I'm always down to play this game.

8* Good old fun. It was my RPG gateway game for sure. Good characters, music, and story. Love the change from dark knight to paladin.

9* At the time this was a groundbreaking game for me. I sacrificed so much sleep to play this game, and did a lot of 24 hour shifts during school.

10* It's guitar hero, I mean come on! It's awesome.

Haha, that old thread is a real flashback, my tastes have changed a bit in the interim. I'll again just post em in the order they come to mind, not my actual preference. I had to cheat and bump it up to 15.

1. Ninja Gaiden Black
2. Halo 3
3. Gears of War
4. GTA: San Andreas
5. God of War (1+2)
6. Guitar Hero 2
7. Jet Set Radio Future
8. Tetris DS
9. Fallout 2
10. Oblivion
11. Ace Combat 4
12. Final Fantasy 12
13. We Love Katamari
14. Resident Evil 4
15. Super Smash Bros Melee

1. Keeps kicking my ass, and I keep coming back for more. Black just sweetened the pot with more difficulty, weapons, and missions. Best action game ever, sorry Devil may cry!

2. How can I put a game thats not even out yet as my favorite? Maybe because the short month of the beta was some of the most amazing multiplayer FPS action i've ever played! HEL YEH

3. Amazing immersive visuals, gritty balls out action, and kickass co-op gameplay. Nothing beats holding off a horde of Locusts with you buddy next to you buttrock.gif

4. I love the "Thug Life" 90's california gangsta settings, fuck the haters. There's so much gameplay, the gameworld is huuuuuge and seamless, soundtrack rocks, and the story is great. I've 100% cleared this mutha 3 times and I'll do it again!

5. Epic story, epic boss battles, epic music. In my opinion, the pinnacle of PS2 games.

6. Like Wir says, its Guitar Hero! guitarist.gif No music game comes close (although Rock Band will probably destroy it.)

7. I don't know what it is exactly about it, but I just love this game to death. The speed, the flow, the characters, the music. I like it better than the DC original, even if it is a bit easier. There's just more to do, and the gameplay is faster.

8. Best tetris ever! Online play, classic NES theme, it rocks!

9. Unquestionable king of RPGs. Maybe Fallout 3 will top it?

10. If Fallout 2 is the king, then Oblivion is the queen. Or High Chancellor... or something. Its excellent.

11. Unequalled flight combat arcade action, with an awesome backstory to match. AC5 and 0 weren't quite as good, though still fun in their own rights. Since AC6 will finally implement online dogfights, I think it may finally take its place as my favorite from AC4.

12. The biggest and best innovation to the biggest RPG series. From the moment I started it, I just had the feeling of "damn, this is a good game."

13. Rolling, rolling, rolling. We will roll up the universe! I keep trying to make bigger balls...

14. A tie between this and Ninja Gaiden for Crushinator's game of the Xbox/PS2/GC generation. If there was a game that was only the "Mercenaries" mode I'd still pay full price for it.

15. Its smash! This is the game that always gets busted out when I have friends over.

Why do you like these so much? The strategy is pretty shallow (compared to other console offerings like Front Mission, Disgaea, FF Tactics etc), its pretty much just weeaboo mech fanservice.

And why the GBA/DS versions? The PS2 ones have awesome graphics/animations/voiceovers if you're in it for the fanservice aspect, which the portables of course can't touch.

because i have not played the ps2 versions ive seen videos of them on youtube but havent played them. also while i like Front Mission if find SRW more enjoyable. i also dont think the strategy is shallow while not as difficult as front mission i definately think they are better than the fire emblem games

this one(ps2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDd6hqlwUlQ

doesnt look much better than this one(ds) video quality aside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_qsqfvGTEM <---voltron http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxqvNs

but this is the newest one(ps2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NWW06X97x4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNUmK-0bTn4

My list hasn't really changed that much. I'll go for 13:
  1. Panzer Dragoon Saga
  2. Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 3
  3. NiGHTS
  4. Phantasy Star Online
  5. Guardian Heroes
  6. Gunstar Heroes
  7. Shining Force III
  8. Resident Evil 4
  9. Saturn Bomberman
  10. Shinobi (PS2)
  11. Metal Gear Solid
  12. Jet Grind Radio
  13. Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution

They're mostly SEGA games since I was a SEGA fanboy back then. Anywayyyyy.....

1. Yes. Greatest game I ever played. Everything was put together beautifully. Music, gameplay, story, and even the graphics were awesome. I think this is SEGA's best localization ever. Yeah, it seemed lazy but that's the best part. The game was (mostly) in Japanese with English subs. Even the end credits were still in Japanese. Totally played it to death.

2. I was a HUGE sonic fan back then. Putting both of these games together was pure bliss. And who doesn't love Lock-on technology?

3. Yes. Another great game. Though a real Sonic game was never released for the Saturn, this will do.

4. I didn't expect much from this game. I bought it just because it had the Sonic Adventure 2 demo in it haha. Turned out to be an awesome game and the very first online game I ever played. God knows how many copies and versions of the game I have.

5. Treasure + beam 'em up = sweet.

6. Treasure + shoot 'em up = sweet.

7. Simple yet complicated game. Super addictive. Too bad only scenario 1 came out here.

8. Non-stop action. Good stuff here.

9. THE best bomberman experience. 10 player matches are the shit.

10. Not many people liked it but I did. Hard? Yes. Beatable? Yes.

11. Wow, a stealth action game? Yes.

12. Cel-shading? WTF is that? Now you know. Music is awesome too.

13. Probably one of the most under appreciated games. Totally loved it. The art direction and sound design were top notch.
