ATHQ is proud to announce our FFXI X-Mas event! We will be organizing a secret santa gift exchange for those that wish to participate. If you want to be included, simply reply in this topic and your name will be put on the list. ATHQ Staff will then randomly draw names to determine who you will need to purchase a present for. I would like to be able to let everyone know whose name they got by this saturday so make haste in your reply. I'll leave it open to discussion as to how much gil should be spent.

Thanks to Crush for suggesting this. at-emote1.gif

Update!

Names have been drawn.

Those who signed up will shortly recieve an in game mail telling them whose name they got. You will have until the 23rd to purchase and send the present to your person's Mog House.

Feel free to post your wishlists here. beigebiggrin.gif

This seems to be quite the trend. I've heard of other linkshells doing this exact same thing. It's really a great idea. Hopefully no one will give anyone a piece of coal (if that's even an item) as their gift.

So yeah, count me in. *crosses fingers he doesn't get coal*

what's the ideal cost for the gift? in the "real world" secret santas usually have a $5-15 cap on them so people know what to blow on a coworker. but what about on vanadiel? i, for example, am flat broke and can't contribute all that much to a decent gift.

Its a good idea and I'd like to be a part of it. Chibi....if you don't have much gil to spare....you could be my meatshield in exchange beigelaugh.gif j/k There's always those quests for items/gils to do or else I can help you hunt gobs for items to sell chibi.

I do think that we should have a gil cap...example: 1000-5000 gil.

Count me in! =D

Synth, I think 1000 - 5000 might be a little steep. ^^; Remember, we still have some newer players... and even some of the "vets" might feel that's a bit of a stretch. A suggested spending range is a good idea... but in the end, it's the thought that counts, right? ^.~

Question: how do you plan to distribute the gifts? Just leave one person in charge of that?

I'm in, too.

As far as passing out the gifts goes, you can give your present at the Meeting/Photoshoot session, since most people will probably be in attendance. If someone can't make it, you can just send it to their Mog House after the event.

Well seeing as I have no other use for the gil I've been making, count me in. I think the limit should be from 1000-5000 gil, well at least I'm prepared to spend that much.

I hope to God no one asks for Leaping Boots.

beigelaugh.gif

I had thought about this idea for awhile, myself. Problem is....I have so many damn linkpearls now that it would pretty much kill my wallet to go through with it on all counts.

I'll craft something for someone if they need it, I guess. Maybe some OJ for those MP starved mages....

I'd love to participate in this secret santa... dealie.

I like flowers, but my delivery box was already swamped with them, so no more flowers, because I have an obligation to keep them =x I've never sold one! In fact... I never sell any presents =o but that's just me.

Anyway, I'll probably be getting everyone something small for this Christmas, but I'll enjoy getting whoever's name assigned to me something special =)

Oh, and do I constitute as a new player? =x I should certainly hope not. *throws level 20 Merria plushie at you*

How do we know what to buy for the person whom we are tasked to purchase a gift for? I know i am having a hell of a headache figuring what they want... can we just send them an email and ask them what they like? Or is this suppose to be a secret, so they do not know till the gift is being delivered? Hmm...... bash.gif

Cool Sig Bryn. Did you make it yourself? I recently made a plain sig that looks kind of cool and I was going to use it (still am for a while), but you reinspired me to work on a FF11 sig once I decide on my characters' look and get him made. Its too bad I couldn't get on a few days earlier, I just missed the event. I'm planning on hopefully starting this weekend.
