Friday evening Bryn and I went to Gamestop looking for something new to play. I spotted Matrix Online for $20 and it included a free month trial. The price was right so I picked up a copy and figured twenty bucks was worth a month of gameplay. We are both huge fans of the first movie and the Animatrix so this was worth a look. I made a character and had a look around the city. It is a pretty cool game, notwithstanding a slightly poor performance on my aging machine.
This game feels like a cross between City of Heroes and Anarchy Online. A bit hard to figure out the upgrades and abilities but plays very fast, and easy to jump into the action. Bryn wanted to join in on the fun so we went back and picked up another copy. Jacking in to the Matrix. Residual Self Images. Knock knock motherf#ckers! Let's rock! Giving the office a fresh coat of bullet holes. exp and ejecting shells. Crushing Zion loyalists with our Hacker Code and Simulacrum. Gettin' down after the battle at a nearby club. You notice the radio tuner in the lower right corner? You can tune into any streaming broadcast or your own music library in game. The official station of the game has live DJ's who are in game when they broadcast and give updates on any pvp action, parties, or movie character appearances throughout the city. I'll have to set up AT Radio with a .asx file before I can access it with the in game tuner. Matrix Online also comes with AIM built into the interface. You can contact anyone in or out of the game, and people who don't have the game can contact you while you are playing, kind of like Xfire. Pretty fun game for what we paid. I am not sure if we'll take it beyond the month trial, we'll see how it pans out. For now we'll be fighting on the Merovingion side, terminating Zionists and Machinists. |

I may as well play since I already have the game, and you guys are on there. The issue is time, though D:

Yea time is a factor here as well, but you can pretty much count on me being on most nights from around 7pm to midnight(central). Most weekends I pretty much come on whenever though. Also this isn't really the kind of game where you make a career out of playing either, just come on for some dancing and killing with pals.
If anyone is able to be on friday night, there is a party being sponsored by Awakened Radio at Club Polyvinyl in Mara Central. Bryn and I should be hanging out there. To experience the full party atmosphere, tune into awakened radio during the party, I'll link you to my preset radio list that I access in game. Simply save the following text file to your Matrix Online directory, something like C: \Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\. Radio Presets: right click, save to Matrix Online directory You also need to have Windows Media Player 10 installed and up to date to access the ingame radio player. Turn on the radio in the Options menu and the first station should start playing automatically, from then on you can switch between your stations. To add another station simply edit the mpfavorites.txt file I've provided. My selection includes: 1. Apocalypse Tribe Radio - Official AT Radio (music only) 2. Awakened Radio - Official in game station (music + live in game dj's) 3. Chronix Aggression - Metal (music only) 4. Exile Radio - Various (music + live in game dj's) 5. Machine Radio - Various (music + live in game dj's) More info on radio player |

Sweet. When you begin the game you only have one contact to start with. After you get a few completed missions under your belt you get more contacts and can choose which side you want to be affilitated with. |

Stop making me want to buy this game!
I'd pick it up but I've bought like 3 games in the past few weeks as it is. If you guys are still messing around with it in like a month, perhaps I'll have the extra fundage to join in. In the meantime, keep the screenshots acoming. I've been rather enjoying this thread. -------------------- PSN ID: USF_Tailgater

Pictures from the Syntax Party!
We arrived late and almost missed Donkey, but I think he got a couple pics. Representin' AT on the floor. We totally owned that side of the dance floor. It got rather, um, warm in Club Polyvinyl. Rockin out to Bryn's mix. Saturday Night Fever style. As the party got later and later, it turned into a real Zion style bash. Everyone had a little too much to drink. |

ok, I finally got it installed after cleaning the CDs. After I chose to side with Merovingian, a bunch of people (other players) started killing me, and now I can hardly go anywhere/do anything. Kind of retarded. I don't know why any game's design would let some group of level 50 guys kill a level 6 newbie guy over and over again...
Aside from that, we should get together and do some missions or something. -------------------- dueling, remade for modern audiences |

Getting ganked sucks....but, I'm sorta thinking you might be on the Vector server. We're on Syntax, a non-hostile server. The only pvp is consensual.

Nope, I'mn definitely on Syntax. I'm not quite sure why they could just keep on killing me. I don't mind so much now, because I've figured out that there is no penalty when another player kills you, even though you still have to go back to a hardline. Are you guys going to be on at all this weekend? It's the only time I have to play.

Dive seems to have the ability to talk everyone that plays with him out of their pants.
Keep the pics coming guys. I'm really enjoying them.(O'-')> -------------------- "Brotherhood asked for no friendship, only loyalty.
