Ah King posted this at The Arcade:

PSO Blue Burst
user posted image
Supposedly there will be more info on this on April 5th

What could it be???

EDIT: I found some more info on this on PSOW:

PSO: Episode 4 Announced

"In a sudden and rare press release, ST has revealed the next and final installment of the PSO series! We have the full excerpt of this exciting news!

This new volume of PSO will feature a continuation to the storyline that is already present as well as new items, new weapons, new stages, new costumes and 3 brand new classes. Currently planned for GC only, Episode 4 will feature server side saving features. The player limit per game has also been increased to 12 people.

Needless to say, we're more than just excited. Don't forget to read more!"

Obviously the PSOW post is an april fools joke.. the blue burst thing however is still in question

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is... The artwork not being new isn't a good sign either. Watch it be some EP 1 2 and 3 compilation if it is real

Do they have april fools day in Japan? beigebiggrin.gif

The trilogy was ment to include PSO+ and PSO EP3. I believe it is already released, but in Japan only. This is different than the "Blue Burst" game...which is new.

Was the US ever going to get a PSO+ release? For some reason I doubt it...

I think the only new PSO expansion we can realistically hope for, would be a PSO ep3 card battle expansion set.

Outside of that, it was stated that there are no plans for anymore new PSO expansions. If anything, it's about time they make a PSO 2.

After the release of PSO ep3 in japan, I've read somewhere that PSO 2 is under devolpement. It suppose to be in a totally different gameplay and story. Blue Burst is probably the PC version of PSO ep and 2. Lol. But the april fool joke sounds sooo cool. If it does happen it would be more fun then FFXI IMO.

Well, here we are at April 5. As expected, their site has gone up.
Here's what I was able to discern from it.

- Server-side saving, and something called a "team system" (Perhaps this will work like guilds/linkshells in MMORPG's).

- Looks like they're having game masters, a la FFXI and other MMORPGs.

I don't see this joker coming out here in the States anytime soon. Anyone here sign up for the beta? I sure as hell didnt.

also, I am reading thiings about this Blue Burst being a PC version of PSO 1 and 2. It seems that SEGA never release V.2 to the PC. So, that's what this is.
Nothing new for us GC kids. Sorry folks.

I pieced all of this thru going to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and copy and pasting the japanese URL into the box and hitting go.

I need to hear of at least 4 new areas before I would consider getting this same style of game again (not to mention how many people here and at TA will actually buy this game as well).

Doesn't seem like a bad start so far though.

Another thought - I just hope those monsters Donkey showed us aren't the ultimate versions of the e2 monsters we all know and love to hate. Also, if this doesn't turn out to be another "Nihon-dake" (Japan only) release, we won't need the services of Layrinn, aka "Señor Teclado" (Spanish for "Mr. Keyboard") to churn out adaptors.

... and speaking of which. I always thought it was weird of them (lazy?) not to have made ULT versions of EP2 monsters.
...and speaking of EP2. It's a shame that they dropped the exp points per monster in EP2. It almost made it not worth it.

That one new area look pretty cool though. I wonder where that huge hole in the ground goes to?
Not so found of the new pig nosed thing. I do like the other one though.

Hey your right. I recall seeing early concept models of those guys back when Version 2.0 came out for Dreamcast. I believe I saw the picture in that old pso site called mamek. I dont have the link anymore so i cant get there. But I recall them still having that pic. Along with the HUnewmen and RAmarl and FOcast too.

I recall seeing those recently and just thought they where early renditions of our moredn day FOmars. now I see the rabbit hole goes deeper. I just Hope sega brings these new areas over to the Gamecube. It would be so awesome! 8D

I'm guessing the concept idea for a GM was around during the Dreamcast days. Infact, that model was around during the ver1 days.

I guess Sega was too cheap to fund the idea, so it was scrapped. Now close to 3+ different PSO remakes later, combined with massive cheating, and hacking, ST probably convinced sega to fork over the dough for this.

If PSO had server side saving, I would actually still be playing it now.

I did renew my GC PSO hunters lisence, so be on the look out for me anyway.

I just visited the official site and they have actual rendered areas.

Those screenshots I took are in 16 bit color 800 x 600 resolution.
I ran 32 bit color with 1024 x 768 resolution and it looks nice!
But it's sorta an overkill for my PC so I had to tone it down afterwards as it froze my PC.

user posted image
Is it me or is Irene looking a bit more umm detailed?

And yea, you can assign shortcuts to those umm 10 shortcuts. I don't know how to set it yet but you DO use the number keys to use the shortcuts.
And from what I seen so far, you can format your screenname to a specified font.
It's either that or something is really wrong with my PC.
In addition, you can set a font for display in-game. The list of fonts are pretty limited but its alot for PSO.
Chatting is a bit odd since you have to press the space bar first to bring up the text input window.
I haven't gotten past Forest yet since you can't really access it offline.
Online, its a killer since theres a bunch of enemy spawns... at least that is if you're playing solo.
Anyone want to help? beigelaugh.gif
From what I've read, you have to complete some quests in order to unlock additional areas. So I'm not sure if you can access the new areas in the beta.
lv30 is now required for Hard Mode.
And if you guys didn't read up on it, the team leader can kick people out the team, give a member the team leader status, and among other stuff.
Theres also this team flag thing. Basically, if you have a clan or something, all your clan members can have an icon of your choice right next to their names.
Pretty awesome.

Leveling is alot faster and harder because of the enemy spawns. Sure, normal mode is ok but when you load up those quests they have now, it will seem that all of them are like Endless Nightmares or a very bad map of C-Mode.
I did the 1st quest for Caves and the last room, Nano Dragons kept spawning.
There were only the 2 of us in the team.
Oh I met with Ah-King of Ragol.com fame and he showed me some interesting stuff.

I have not confirmed this but if you die, you lose experience. What I can confirm for the beta is you don't lose money if you go back to Pioneer 2.
About the different fonts, it seems it only works on the menus.
Team flags can be purchased with points. As of now, I have no idea how to get points.
Not really new news but theres server side saving. Which means, if your comp freezes or whatever, you don't lose your stuff.
This is Donkey signing out from Ragol. See you next time!

Don't worry AC9, there's always cmode for me on the GC =)

Downloading the game right now. If I'm lucky, I'll probably see some of you tomorrow.

Hmm...this does seem pretty interesting...
From what I've read, you have to do a bunch of quests in order to progress to new areas or something (instead of just normally going through every level).

And that leader stuff sounds uber cool. You idiot n00bs try to ruin my games all the time? Not anymore! Your ass would be gone!
Heh...that would be great... beigelaugh.gif

I've got the game downloaded and everything. Now to figure out why I'm staring at the background screen even though I put in my ID/pass correctly.

It could mean that the server is under maintainence (which happens ALOT, it seems that they have daily maintainence).
Have you downloaded the patches? Are you really sure you input all your info right?
You may want to wait after the game asks you to press enter at the ToA screen.
This is where the game downloads all the character info and whatnot.
Only other problem I ran into is the game seems to hang when I load up the game.
I'm basically looking at a black screen with the hourglass cursor.
And of course, NEVER press alt+tab as it will crash the game.

After a bunch of trial and errors registering and a bunch of *ahem* program downloads...
After like hours and hours of downloading... and like 15-30 mins of patches, I FINALLY got to playing the game.

So let me get this straight, all you have to do is download this game and pay for the subscription?

As far as I know, the Open Beta is totally free.

And if you can believe it, I've been downloading PSOBB from a torrent on and off since Friday evening, and have almost 70% of it so far. BTW, did I mention I was doing this all on dial-up? beigebigrazz.gif

Either way, I hope to get my ass on Blue Burst before the weekend.

You have to sign up first in the PSOBB site. You can download the game first if you want but you'll still have to register to play.
Beta is totally free.

Yep, I know I put in my info right because if I didn't, I'd get the "check password" message. As for downloading character data, I have yet to make one.

Crush, you have to run that exe. It'll also extract the torrent for PSOBB. Double click on it and it'll download.
