Weird Qustion about cartoons

Why is it that in american cartoons they always turn the pages of a book from Left to right? Which is opisit from what we do in life (right to left).

If they were to draw stuff backwards, wouldn't stuff like letters on signs look backwards? Or vice versa if they drew them normally, and took the pics.

Who knew this could be so complicated. .. crash.gif
