I just got back from seeing the midnight showing of Return of the Sith, and I'm pleased to say that it didn't suck. It didn't suck so much, in fact, that I actually enjoyed it.

I think Lucas allowing himself to make a PG-13 movie let us see the darker side of the Star Wars story, and I liked it.

I don't want to talk about the movie lest I give away spoilers and plot points, but I will say this: there was much butt-kicking to be done, and not just by the Jedi. R2 gets in on the action as well, which was comical but thoroughly enjoyable.

I'd rate the movies in this order:

Episode 4
Episode 3, 5, and 6 tied
Episode 2
Episode 1

I saw the midnight yesterday.

I need to see it again to see how I rank it.

Empire Strikes Back still owns all. But what I liked about EP3 is that the action is has the same pacing and fun as the originals. Though nothing beats the final duel in Return of the Jedi. Its still the best duel in the whole saga.

The birth of Vader scene is good, but ends with the worse cheesy moment in history of movies.

More thoughts after I've seen it for a 2nd time. Which should be tonight. Going to see it in digital.
