I just got back from seeing the midnight showing of Return of the Sith, and I'm pleased to say that it didn't suck. It didn't suck so much, in fact, that I actually enjoyed it.
I think Lucas allowing himself to make a PG-13 movie let us see the darker side of the Star Wars story, and I liked it. I don't want to talk about the movie lest I give away spoilers and plot points, but I will say this: there was much butt-kicking to be done, and not just by the Jedi. R2 gets in on the action as well, which was comical but thoroughly enjoyable. I'd rate the movies in this order: Episode 4 Episode 3, 5, and 6 tied Episode 2 Episode 1 Edit: Correct grammar saves lives. -------------------- <center>

Yeah. I would of loved if Anakin's turn was like Michael Corleone. All the darkside seduction from Palpatine, and Anakin being corrupted by the darkside should of been the focus of Episode II with Episode III being the final punchline. Instead, Lucas chose Anakin's character arch and many other things in the first two prequels to be subtle. He didn't base Anakin, or most of the characters in the prequels, on any archetypes from myth like the first trilogy. I don't know why Lucas went that route.
