Welcome to last week. But anyways...
Yeah, its really an end of an era. EGM was an institution of the VG culture, and for almost 20 years it was the best multiplat mag. However, with the decline of print exclusivity and the complete nullification of exclusives and news breaks in magazines by the internet, it was something that was inevitable. The way that ZD just immediately canned EGM was completely without class, though. Handing off 1up to UGO and firing the whole EGM staff and many of the core writers/podcasters that MADE EGM/1up so great was a total slap in the face to not only the staffers, but also to the community that they'd worked so hard to build with 1up.com. 1up Yours was a huge inspiration for me as far as podcasting goes, it really saddens me to see it just disappear. -------------------- |
