Go buy this game. I've never played anything more lush, vibrant, and alive before. Not even in an online game.

One moment I'm clearing out the monsters from a portal to hell, the next I'm avenging the death of the wife of a simple farmer at the hands of some creeps.

Then i'm fleeing from a pack of goblins only to run headlong into a couple of demons, but the demons decide they hate the goblins more than me, giving me a chance to escape as my two foes battle each other before the victor (the demons!) continues the hunt for my nooby ass.

Later on, I'm helping (!?) a schizophrenic elf figure out who is in the conspiracy to kill him (nobody is, it's all in his head, but he sure as hell doesn't know that), then I'm helping a fellow mages guild member free himself from a trapped dream dimension, where I battle inside his mind for his freedom.

And all this is just in my adventures wandering around outside, ignoring the main quest! It seems like every turn, every trail, every new person you meet opens the door to some crazy new adventure.

I've been playing pretty much every free moment since I picked this up on tuesday, and I haven't been disappointed by a single aspect of this game. Oblivion surpasses even GRAW and sets the bar for next-gen graphics, immersion, and game scope. All future single player RPGs have a hell of a lot to live up to, now.

The gameplay is much tighter than Morriwind, the combat is actually fun and tactical now, and magic use is a breeze. It even takes realistic physics into account, with enemies reeling back from where you impact them, and explosive spells sending items (and bodies!) flying away in all directions.

Crushinator 100% recommendation, you must play Oblivion! guitarist.gif

PS: I'm playing a redguard assassin, specializing in archery and totally sweet katana moves.

PPS: All these screens are 100% accurate to how the game looks on the 360 beigebigeek.gif Pretty smooth framerate throughout, considering the scope of the game, and holy shit at the draw distance.

I'm "aquiring" this game as I type, been looking into it alot, and from what i've seen this title looks like The Definitive RPG of any recent years.

Now i just hope my PC will run it well. beigelaugh.gif

This game is the honest reason why I will EVEN BUY a 360.

Yes, thank you Crush for reaffirming the truth of the matter. Now I MUST buy this!... after I graduate. If I buy this game now, I fail my classes...

Hah, I know exactly how you feel. Oblivion was the clencher on me buying a 360, but then they delayed it like 5 months after the launch! beigelaugh.gif At least I got to have fun with PGR3, though.

But yeah, this game is totally buttrock.gif ing. The level ups come a little slower than in Morrowind, but you actually gain special moves and abilities now when you increase in skills, so it makes the levels more meaningful.

They took away some of the old skills (bye bye enchant, spear), and combined some together (i.e. no more long blade and short blade, just "blade" skill) so it's a lot easier to get more use out of all your skills. Things like archery, alchemy, charm, and others that I felt were kind of useless or broken in Morrowind are awesome in Oblivion.

The quests are a lot more varied too, and every one has an interesting story to it, with lots of little twists. Even the standard TES "first fighters guild warmup quest" of "go kill rats in the basement" goes into some crazy twist and turns, and has you stalking some neighbors and going hunting in the mountains.

I made a Redguard Crusader, that's what it gave me after i did my own class and yes the game is incredible...besides the small stutters on the many loading area's and the same stutters while riding a horse, everything else is amazing...i just joined the Fighter's Guild, which gave me some achievement points(damn those addicting achievements hehe) and only did the first small part of the main quest, the NPC'S A.I. is awesome, the voice acting is great. They improved everything about Morrowind and then some...instead of taking the warp to head to the village for the main quest,i decided to walk there...i discovered 1 cave,1 mine,2 shrines and refill alter on the way...i can see playing this game for 200 hours,i want to take my time and enjoy everything that the game has to offer...hell you can even play as a Vampire if you want.Incredible game.

I agree that walking is a lot more fun than using the fast travel. I usually avoid it unless I'm in the middle of a quest I just want to get finished.

Nothing beats finding some new cave or mine between a rock, and spelunking for treasure between towns!

I made a Breton Mage, sign of the Mage. I blew all of my gold on cool summons, and now have a kickass Flame Antrioch at my command! She rocks.

My adventures and armor collections (look so snazy with hdr on), gota love my assassin, sexy, and will murder you 3 times over before you hit the ground.

note: about half the screenies have a lot of graphic stuff disabled since i was still tinkering to get good fps with bloom/hdr, with everything else cranked.
