Anyone else currently playing this? I just finished it yesterday and am just leveling up in the first bonus dungeon.

Vitamin D got it and reviewed it on the podcast. His thoughts weren't too favorable and he kinda disuaded me from getting it. If the price comes down though I might pick up a copy.

It's not that it's a bad game, I just expected more from it. You see, Star Ocean 2 is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and Star Ocean 3 disappointed to no end. While Star Ocean 4 is definitely better than 3 in my opinion, it's still no where near the experience I had with 2. That aside It's definitely fun to play, as I'm still playing it right now, but it's for SURE not for everyone.

I beat it the other day as well, and am also in the first bonus dungeon (there are 2 apparently haha). I also completed the Team battle arena, which was QUITE a bitch to do. I at least plan to complete both bonus dungeons. As far as getting all the battle trophies and monster data etc, all that can get the hell on haha.

I've been looking to pick this game up too. Star Ocean is one of my fave games. Problem is that I have other rpgs to finish, so I've been holding off. Star Ocean is all about the combat system.

Star Ocean games have a way of dumping everything in your lap story-wise about mid-game. As much as I enjoyed the story and the characters, there was more that could've been done IMO. I can't be bothered to get all those individual battle trophies either. Some of them are just plain ridiculous.

I finally got around to beating Gabriel Celeste, and I'm on the Wandering Dungeon now. UGH. It works like this:

- 20 Floors.
- No Save Points.
- The floor layout, and its treasures are randomized each time you enter.
- Bosses respawn each time you enter.
- Each floor you have to complete one of maybe 4 objectives to reach the next floor.
- Worst of all, should you leave the dungeon, you start back at the beginning. Meaning to complete it, you have to clear all 20 floors in one sitting.
- No items, Fox only, Final Destination.

My plan is just to level up a lot and do it one day. Putting HAXED exp modifiers on armor is easy to do, and can even be duped easily with magical clay (same with ATK INT etc modifiers). Basically, you take a junky weapon and synth a cool stat like ATK +18% to it. Potent Attack seeds on a weapon will give this effect. Then you dupe that weapon as much as you want for one magical clay each. What sucks is, the best way to get magical clay is either mining them from Aeos, or getting them as a drop in the Seven Star dungeon. Both of which require you switch to disc 2. Which wouldn't be too bad if you didn't have to switch to disc 3 every time you wanted to do item creation. What the fuck Tri-Ace >_>. TREY 4 LIFE. Anyway, enough ranting... time to grind haha.

Yeah the swapping is a pain if you wait till disk 3 to do some of the little collecting/sidequests...currently on disk 2 only though and no swapping so far...I love this game, besides a few annoying voice overs(kay) ;) but in general the voice acting isn't so bad and the story is ok also, nothing grand so far but enjoyable enough...like you guys said, the battles are damn fun and I had a good challenge on the Boss on Roak in the Purgatorium.I'm not crazy about the dungeons so far though, not sure why, they just seem to drag on too long for me...graphic wise, some area's are absolutly stunning(playing on a 50"" HDTV) and the soundtrack is pretty great also.

Its a Super Smash Bros joke. You tube video for reference.

Then there is the fact of them having to swap a disc to craft wich could be misconstrued as the inferiorness of the Xbox360 hardware to the PS3, but most likely is shitty game design. hence Crushinator and Vitamin D alluding to a certain youtube ps3 fanboy with the term TREY 4 LI4E. another youtube reference point.

Teabagging is the process in which one person dips his ballsack into another person's mouth, as a sign of humiliation or dominance.
