Now, as we all know, Episode III has increased the EXP roof to level 300. Let's take a gander at how much freaking EXP that is.

Let's use the equation a/b = b/c. A equals the EXP required to reach 100. That's 2.2 million, so...

(2,200,000 EXP) / B = B / C

I'm going to go off on a loop and say that Episode III is going to follow the EXP roof for 200 on GC. So that's 83 million.

(2,200,000 EXP) / (83,000,000 EXP) = (83,000,000 EXP) / C

The variable to solve for is C. Now, the EXP required for 100 increases exponentially for 200. From a quick calculation on Windows Calc... that's 37.27 repeating. 83,000,000 times 37.27 equals....

3,093,410,000 EXP.

Now, that's if they don't change the formula, so don't get too scared out of your gourd yet. There might be different methods of gaining EXP on Episode III. After all, we are in trading card land. To check if the formula is accurate...

(2,200,000 EXP) / (83,000,000 EXP) = (83,000,000 EXP) / (3,093,410,000 EXP)
(2,200,000 EXP) / (83,000,000 EXP) = 0.0265
(83,000,000 EXP) / (3,093,410,000 EXP) = 0.0268

Eep. Menacingly accurate. So 3,093,410,000 EXP may be the new EXP roof after all. beigebigeek.gif

Hmmmm... and I'm about 30mil away from the current plateau. Maybe we'll get big chunks of exp from card battles, or something to that effect.

My current PSO theory with this is that we have all been overzealous in interpreting the PSOep3 info.

From the beginning, it has been indicated that there is no "normal" PSO on the EP3 game disc. You can still use the same character data, but you must use a different game disc to play each game. Since 200 is the max limit on EP2, how would you be able to gain levels beyond what the game lets you get, just because your character has EP3 data on him, too?

After it was revealed that your character now carries a "card level" to indicate your skill in card battling, I got this idea. Maybe this level can reach L300, and this is what they have been talking about the whole time, but we are too stupid to realize it? This level is kept separate from the Character level on EP2, and makes much more sense than those extreme experience amounts that post 200 levels would assuredly require.

Of course there is the possibility that since Ep3 has ben in development since the same time as Ep2, Sonic Team left "hooks" in the Ep2 software that would enable level 300 once your character had Ep3 data on him. If this is the truth, then I only hope that there is a secret "super ulitmate" difficulty to help gain the mad exp we would need.

EDIT: I was just perusing the EP3 FAQ at PSOW, and it says the max Card Level is 300...soooo I guess I was right! beigelaugh.gif

Well, believe it or not, it's been possible to go to lv999 since v1 (not attainable by natural means of course). Most of us here are somewhat familiar with hex, but I'll try to give the best possible explanation here. Three-digit numbers are handled one of two ways in the code of virtually every game, depending on the circumstances. Usually, numbers not meant to go past something like 99 or 100 or 200 are handled in a single byte (63 being 99, 64 being 100 and C8 representing 200). Highest possible number with this 255 (or FF). But in the case of PSO, they decided to use 2 bytes to store level data. Why they've been doing this since v1, knowing full well that second byte wouldn't get used is beyond me. Ever remember seeing someone in v1/v2 with levels like 666 or even 999? As said before, the game was set up to accomodate that. However I seriously doubt that we'd ever have our levels go up that high in any future incarnation of PSO.

Crushinator: Nah, no way. There can't be a "Super Ultimate" difficulty left on the disc, or someone would have found it by now. Namely, Barubary. He has foreseen the exclusively online enemies and their names before the quests were even out, so if it was possible to see them, then it's not possible that there is a hidden difficulty in the game.

However, your theory would be correct if you could somehow unlock the difficulty by downloading it onto the EP2 disc, but by then, I don't see why they wouldn't have it on the future incarnation/s of PSO.

Remember, there are people in Japan with the trial disc. If there IS a huge aspect to the game that Sonic Team has rendered us oblivious to by not bringing up info about it (say, a real-time version of EP3) it would be found because the trial disc could be searched using certain software.

Not to piss on your parades, but just showing that anything can be encrypted. I don't think it's possible to hide stuff anymore on discs. Sad, that is. No more Easter Eggs cry2.gif

All of this discussion is pointless now anyways, but...

The trial is just that, the TRIAL. It doesn't contain the whole game data, so there is assuredly content and game features in the real Ep3 that aren't even on the disc for the trial. Searching the data would probably reveal a lot, but its unlikely that they would have the same/all the information that is on the final game.

I assume the levelling system for PSOEp3 is entirely different. As has been said the cards go to 300. I'm thinking on the lines of a completely different levellign system, i haven't thought out possibilities of how it would work, but although it is PSO, and it is the direct sequel to the other incarnations, the game is completely remade.... If the levelling system stays similar to what it was before, i just presume they lowerred the level/exp gradient so it doesn't go so steep so fast.

Either way though i'm not too botherred. It'd be nice to know as to how the levellign is done, but on previous PSO's (well GC, DC i was a power-leveller like mosta you guys are lol) i've not cared for levelling and just like having fun with mates, and on Episode 3 i think that'll be enhanced a lot more, with the whole 2-on-2 thing and stuff, that levelling wont be my main focus, i always find the faster levellign at the lower levels is more fun anyways on PSO

The leveling on Ep3 is based on victories. It is really a representation of how good you are at the card game. You gain more exp for a battle if you fight an opponent who is higher level than you, and you can also lose exp if you lose a battle (and you lose a lot more if you lose to someone a lower level than yourself).

It takes 100 exp to gain a level, and level 300 is the max.

I thought it was known that level 300 was refering to your card level, since traditional Ultimate runs are the thing of the past and the over abused "Del biter, use Laser Beam Eye Wave attack, NOW!!!" is the new way to level... That is assuming you're an Ark user. I just hope the deck building aspect is fairly deep.

So what does everyone plan to be, Hunter or Ark? I personally might go Hunter, iam not into the whole evil thing, unless the character cards work more to my play style on the monster side.

I am most interested in playing as an Arkz myself. Controlling the monsters seems like just my cup of tea, and a good change of pace from beating them down.

hmmm...more and more I might give this a try the more I read about it and see the anticipation that many show. I have to admit EP3 is not the highlight of my day...but it could be rather interesting to try out. I just wish there were a way to transfer my guild card files to the EP3 memory card...if it is separate. at-emote1.gif
