Morning Glory, how it works Options

Yesterday evening during a game with Mute and Zu, I aquired a Morning Glory claw from a Delsaber in the ultimate Ruins. I was pretty excited, since I've always wanted one. I've never been a huge fan of claw weapons, but the Morning Glory looks really cool. =3 Later on, a short conversation ensued between Mute, DarkEpyon, DJ Donkey, and I about how the claw's attack power is affected by the time of day. I got the impression that no one really knew for sure, so I did a little digging on my own. Here's the deal...

The Morning Glory's ATP is determined by this formula: ATP = 500 + (.beat time / 4)

Now, the interesting thing is this... when you're online, .beat time is universal. That is, everyone has the same .beat time no matter where they are in the world. The .beat time is kept on the PSO servers and is sent to the clients when they connect. However, when you play offline, the .beat time is determined by your local system settings. For whatever reason, they decided that (offline) 8:00am = 000 beats.

Incidentally, to get the most out of my Morning Glory in an online game, I have to play around 3:00pm local time. So I guess mine is an Afternoon Glory. ;p

Kind of a neat idea for a weapon... but if it were me, I would have made the ATP rise and fall smoothly (like the sun?) instead of falling off abruptly when you go from 999 to 000 beats. I guess ST didn't want to mess with Sine functions.

I must say though i'm awfully surprised at your bad luck with them. You've most likely got well over double my EXP and that was your first one? I've seen 4 drop so far and nabbed two of them..... I guess my luck on my WHITILL balances out as their the only rare besides perfect resists and endless numbers of photon drops that have dropped for me.

edit: also i love the boosted speed of the weapon. Equipped with a God/Battle (god bless you redria!), Kasami Bracer and Morning glory everything is so fast.... I'm not sure whether any of those items cancels the others speed boost (2 god/battles= the same as 1) but either way it's bloomin fast.

Wow, that's really cool that you discovered the online play has a significant difference with that of the offline use of Morning Glory. I'll have to relay this information to Zu next time I see him. ;p

On a side note... too bad Morning Glory is claw. I mean, claws definately look cool and all but the instances of hit and single target properties aren't the most desirable when there are some great twins types out that are far more efficient (but then again, in terms of efficiency, you bastid HUs will likely use Vulcans or Mechs ). But then again, it's all about your own style of play. ^.^;

Damn, thats a great find, Rinn. I wish I could get one X( Cool that it has such weird damage properties too...So I guess the strongest beat times are actually "Morning" in Japan, right?

Yeah, Crush... @000 .beats is 8am Japan time. So that mean that just before 8am there, it's @9xx .beats and the Morning Glory is at its most powerful. Mountain time here in Colorado is 8 hours ahead of Japan... so @000 .beats is 4pm for me. Which is why I say mine is an Afternoon Glory. ;p
