Everyone knows by now that heath ledger is playing the Joker in the new Batman movie. Some people were worried, others like myself were curious to see how he would do as he has never played a role like this before. I've not yet met anyone wildly excited about him yet. Put some of your worries behind you, ladies and gentleman, I give you....

To me, Heath Ledger is going to try to play Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Because to me, Jack Nicholson IS the Joker. Who knows, maybe he'll blow me away, broken back or no.

I swear too many people think the joker from batman the movie is how the joker should be. I think jack had a great performance, but when comparing his personality to the joker in the comics, they're hardly similar at all. I don't mean to be the comic snob here, or to say jack nocholson wasn't good, but he wasn't the joker I grew up reading. If heath ledger really is going for jack nocholson, he's in for some harsh reality. If he's going for the comic joker, we could have something just as great.

Regardless of what people speculated I know this is going to be awesome. Joker is in perhaps one of the greatest villians ever thought up of. I've always thought the Joker was a cool idea and perfect type of archenemy. Batman: A knight, Joker: A jester. It also seems as though they will be setting up the stage for a part 3 for Batman by introducing Harvey Dent in this movie. It's going to be interesting to see everything pans out.

I always thought Mark Hamill's voice made a great joker.

Elli, I believe in the Batman mythology, Bruce can't really remember what the guy looked like who killed his parents, so he projects into his memory the faces of different people.

Batman gurus, is that correct, or am I completely making shit up?

It definetly wasn't the Joker who killed his parents. I'm like 80% positive it was just a common thug. I don't remember if anyone came back later on about it.

In the first Tim Burton bats movie, it was indeed the Joker (as Jack Napier) who killed batman's parents.

That was just for the movie, like Zorya said, Batman can't "really" remember who actually did it.

Also, that picture looks awesome, Broken Back Joker!

From the wiki page

Director Christopher Nolan has said that this portrayal will be inspired by The Killing Joke, and the character's first two appearances in the comics

If the next movie turns out as good as Begins, I'll have no worries. I'm looking forward to it. Nice picture too, it gives faith that the Joker will be as psychotic as he's known for. mario.gif

That pic of the Joker is photoshopped and is not even Heath Ledger.

Here is the original unaltered pic

The original pic is from a 1928 silent film called The Man Who Laughs, from which Batman creator Bob Kane based the Joker's appearance on.
