Apocalypse Tribe HQ _ Meeting Room _ Updating Forum

Posted by: Dive Jun 19 2007, 06:06 PM

I am going to apply the latest version of Invision this evening. There may be brief outages in the next couple hours. Hopefully it will go without incident. Some of the skins may be unavailable right away.

~Edit: The forum is now upgraded to the latest release! As with any update, there may be a broken image or link out of place. Let me know if you find anything amiss. I am still bug testing so watch for updates.

~Edit 2: You may need to edit your signatures. Just go into your Controls, hit Edit Signature and just press Update Signature with no changes. It should work after that.

~Edit 3: There is a new MySpace like feature in this new version. It changed your profile to a portal type page. It does not work correctly with the old skins, so I kept the new stock skin as a selection. A part of this is a kind of redundant feature for a site of our size which is the ability to add "friends" and they show up on your "ATSpace" profile page. You can also add comments to other people's profile.

I am still deciding if I want to keep this or not, it will take some work to get it displaying correctly on the old skins. You can still view and use it, but some of the features will only work on the IPB Pro skin.

~Edit 4: I fixed the Latest Discussions on the Portal to show the most recent reply rather than the most recent new topic.

Where's the add friend button?

Posted by: Dive Jun 19 2007, 08:44 PM

It's only working on the IP Board Pro skin at the moment, but if you click on someone's name to get to their profile, you can add from there, the 'Add Friend' link will be on the upper right below their photo.

On the new stock skin, the usernames in posts have a drop down selection and you can add there as well.

I see them, but none of them seem to be working, I'm using firefox 2.0.0.4

edit, everything seems to be working in i.e. 7

It seems like they only show up in the new skin. I can get the add friend link to work fine in Firefox 2.0.0.4 using the new skin.

I still have to fix the latest post on the portal. It is showing the original poster instead of the most recent poster.

hmm, I wonder if its ad block or one of its filters causing it.

edit, for some unknown reason it was windowsblinds that was causing the issues with firefox, so for those of you that use it, make sure to have firefox in the exceptions for skins

What isn't working exactly? Can you add friends from someone's profile page? Are you able to get the drop down menu when you click on the little drop down box on a person's name in topic view?

Posted by: Knightsword Jun 19 2007, 09:08 PM

the drop down boxs, the posts/comments/etc views the comments/add friend links, but it was windowsblinds, I disabled it and everything works now

Sweet, thanks for the troubleshooting help.

Posted by: Knightsword Jun 19 2007, 09:13 PM

I re enabled windowsblinds and it seems to be working for now, only thing I can think of its a mix of firefox, new software, changing the athq skin, and windowsblinds.

When I do a reply in firefox, instead of the normal buttons at the top of the message edit form, its just text instead of actual working buttons.

A lot of the stuff overlaps and doesn't fit properly in the browser.

Yea Crush, the old skins do not have the buttons built in yet for some of the new features. It's going to take me a bit to get the old skins converted to the new formats.

funny... i didn't even realize that we had an IPB skin.
I like it! Basic... Flat... Kinda Grey.. it's where its at!

new type tools?

Hrm... it seems that either the drop downs don't work on safari or I am not understanding their purpose.
All other buttons work, just not the drop downs.

Good for browsing ATHQ at work, looks like any other business site. ninja2.gif

I haven't tested in Safari yet, I'll work on that. The post reply screen is totally borked on the old skins.

I can't figure out this friends thing for the life of me.

Posted by: Dive Jun 22 2007, 01:29 PM

Probably because it only really works on the IB.Board Pro Skin at this time, the same as the Post Reply page. Try that skin if you haven't yet.

I really didn't anticipate such drastic changes to the overall layout with this upgrade and was unprepared for the themes to be missing vital coding and graphics.

I'll have it all figured out by the time we reach the frontier.

Ha, man, that was a whole lot easier than I made it out to be.

Posted by: Knightsword Jun 22 2007, 08:40 PM

Hey Dive, board settings aren't being saved via my controls (the Edit Personal Portal Information), but they seem to save if you change them from the options when you are viewing your own profile

I really like the ipb skin. Its nice, neutral, soft, and simple. All these new features are crazy, its like Inspector Gadget up in this hizzey!
