SE dropped some knowledge on the specifics of what they'll be implementing in the coming months as far as updates go:

Listed are a bunch of requested changed to the UI, quests, enemy distribution and a lot more. But is it too little too late? They're planning on adding tutorials to the game... in 2011 at some point. That really would have helped y'know... when the game came out.

It feels like the PC launch was just a paid beta, to prep for the "real" launch for the PS3 version in March, but even by then can they salvage the game? I know a majority of us have quit the game and cancelled our subs, even before the extended free period ends. Is there anyone else that's still actively playing or even interested in continuing on FF14?

Personally, I'll give it in till march to see what happens. Meaning, I will most likely cancel my accounts very soon after the first patch and see what the game is by march. Honestly, I don't even know if I'll be interested by then, despite what the final product is. I did the same thing with PSU and never came back to it, and I actually enjoyed that game a lot. It's just tough to get back into something.

For me, it's more of a matter of ethics. Why should I be loyal to a game? It's not like there aren't other quality games out there, or games that will be coming out within march of next year which will be contenders. I have no reason to "hope and pray it gets better." For me, why bother? If the game winds of improving its self so much that I need to go back, because it outshines the competition, then I will re-subscribe. Other wise, I will try out other things and see how they go, and among that, it might include Guild Wars 2. Keep in mind Guild Wars 1 seemed to carve its self as a PvP focus MMO, so it had its own niche. Despite the niche, the game was well received, but I personally don't care for PvP too much.

Within that time frame, if there are better, more quality games out there, FFXIV loses out.
