That monster is actually a "Trog", basically hillbillies that survived the bombs by hiding in caves. They mutated and are now feral and afraid of the light, and hunt in packs supposedly. By that description, I don't see what the difference is between them and Ghouls other then the word "hillbillies" Also, I love that first screenshot Retehi. Reminds me of that Technologic video by Daft Punk, haha. -------------------- "Brotherhood asked for no friendship, only loyalty. There's also an article about the creative process behind the 3 DLC's here: http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/vault/diar...8-03.09.09.html -------------------- |

I was able to finish this last night. I'd say it took me about 5-6 hours to finish, although I was playing as a super-new character (level 5 when i entered the Pitt, level 7 when I left.) Similar to Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt strips you of your gear near the start, you have to "use the tools at hand".
Its quite hard at the start when you have nothing, you basically get slave armor and either a tiny pistol or switchblade. The first mission has you going out to scrapyard outside a steel mill and collecting ingots, and you get a prize for each 10 you collect. You can get some pretty beefy equipment from this, but its a beast to find all the ingots. I was able to locate 88 of the 100 before I moved on, but ended up with some badass unique armor and a killer named Auto-axe. The story itself is actually really interesting, I kinda doubted Bethesda's claims of serious "moral ambiguity" in your choices, but they actually did a good job of making "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type choices in this DLC. I ended up leaving the baby with Ashur and his wife, siding with the Raiders. (I was playing "very evil" this character after all). There are several interesting characters, and the whole steel-mill, heavy-industry setting was very cool, almost reminds me of some of the areas in Silent Hill, of all things. Unlike Operation: Anchorage, you're able to return to the Pitt whenever you choose, after having completed the quest line. Keep in mind that once you start the quest you can't leave the Pitt till its finished, so if you're ill prepared you might have some problems. Having a few levels under your belt should suffice though, if you like challenges. There are a few quest lines that remain open from the Pitt after completing the main one, so there's reason to return. You can also return and complete the ingot collecting quest after you've cleared the main story, which is good because there's an achievement for getting all 100 ingots. As far as loot goes, there's several new armor types and a many named items. I was able to find 2 different rare auto-axes and 6 different unique armors (!!!). You can also pick up a few unique perks by completing certain tasks, and some depending on your choices through the quest as well. EDIT: I forgot possibly the best weapon, you can get the "Infiltrator", a silenced and scoped assault rifle. Awesome weapon. Nowhere near the power of a regular AR or Chinese Rifle, but if you're a stealth based character its a huge help. The auto-axe itself is an awesome weapon, because its so big it consumes almost a full VATS bar to attack just once, but I found that it gets a crit almost every time, usually resulting in a 1 hit kill or disabling the enemy's arm and knocking their weapon out. If you use it normally you can hold it down and keep grinding for MASSIVE damage, so all around its a kickass choice if you are a melee focused character. -------------------- |

"Broken Steel" release date announced, May 5th!
Not only does this extend the gameplay past the "end" (by allowing you to send in a companion to activate project purity, like many of us had suspected) with more quests in the Capital Wasteland, but it also adds a new area at Adams Air Force Base. There's a big interview at gamespot covering the details of the quest/story content: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fallou...topslot;thumb;2 Also, yesterday Bethesda announced they are partnering with Obsidian Software to develop "Fallout: New Vegas", a new Fallout RPG for 2010. This isn't going to be an expansion to F3, but apparently a whole new RPG, in the same style as Fallout 3. Normally I'd be worried with shifting development to another team, BUT Obisidian is recreated from the remnants of Black Isle, the original creators of Fallout 1 & 2 from Interplay. -------------------- |
