</center>[/doHTML] Mythic Entertainment © has announced that Warhammer Online is in development for a 2007 release. Widely regarded as the inspiration for the Warcraft series of games, the Warhammer fantasy world will make it's appearance on the MMO scene sometime next year. Distinguishing itself from most online character development, Warhammer Online will not reward gameplay with standard "levels", instead your avatar will gradually change it's appearance and increase in size, grow beards, horns, etc. Still a long way off, but I am already excited about this game. Undoubtedly the first fantasy MMO I can truthfully say I am looking forward to. Chaos anyone? |

Finally, the massively multiplayer beard growing sim the gaming world has been waiting for!!!
Now that is what I call EMERGENT GAMEPLAY. They better tighten up those graphics before 2007, though. I wanna see every single scraggly hair on that drunken hillbilly's beard rendered with self-shadowing real life physics! <-- Manliest facial hair emoticon we have here. -------------------- |

hmm, an alliance of humans with dwarves and elves vs a hoard of orcs, goblins and evil elves. And there is also plague that turns people into monsters. Where have I seen this before?

Lord of the Rings. AM I RITE?? Seriously, Mythic is going to have to work very hard to try and survive against WoW, and they probably won't succeed. But who cares, in my opinion, Warhammer is infinitely cooler than WoW can ever be. Here's to Massively Multiplayer Beard Growing Sims! |

Warhammer has been around along time, and is what Warcraft ripped off on the PC, though sadly the masses arn't going to know this and call it as what I wrote in my previous post. There just isn't any respect for us pnp players.

Indeed, it's almost impossible to accurately create digital Warhammer without Joe Mainstream crying for it's downfall as a WoW clone. Interestingly enough, the rumor is that the original Warcraft was initially designed for the Warhammer world, but the deal with Games Workshop fell through.

It would make sense, Starcraft then could have been warhammer 40,000, also the huge cartoonish armors and what not, are found in warhammer, which started the look originally.

Thought I'd bump this at the discovery of some info I saw over at Allakhazam.
Reading more about some of the features has gotten my interest in the game stirring. Sounds pretty badass. -------------------- "Brotherhood asked for no friendship, only loyalty. hahahaha sweeet! I can't wait to see what else they have in store for this release. I'm particularly interested in what kinds of Chaos Gifts will be presented and if they will show the gradual degredation of your character as he slowly succumbs to the powers of Chaos.
Badass. |

While I've not terribly familiar with Warhammer, this looks pretty interesting, especially the beard growing dwarves. No doubt those will be hugely popular. Meanwhile I wait for the messiah that is PSU.

Just got my CGW mag today, has some infos and pictures on "WAR". Although i was kinda dissapointed this would not be the 40k genre, after seeing pictures and info on what they "want" the game to be. I will surely keep an eye out. Unfrotunatly the ignorant masses thinking warcraft is older, the huge scope of the game in terms of pvp. As well as the history of damn near every video game ver of warhammer has failed. Mythic has a "lot" of work to do to pull it off.
I do hope this game does succeed the warhammer series is a very good one, even being partial to 40k. If they pull this off with the pvp styles of town raids and capturing em, npc assists in battles, etc. Looting towns captured sounds like a blast, atleast untill enemy players force you out, or after 24h npcs will try to retake the city. People who enjoy pvp will proly bail from wow pretty fast. I just hope jonny 12 year old ganksalot can't ruin everyones fun. Useable artilery/it will assist in battles. Npcs assist in battles depending on numbers per side (no 3 hours to form and go), take and hold of cities/zones/etc. Lot of shit to pull off, but will be oh so fucking sweet if they do. |
