I was able to make a char on Ultros the morning of the 27th. The list on the patcher currently covers other servers so subject to change, but for now you can get in.

Posted by: Kazicht Aug 27 2013, 09:14 AM

Vitamin D, Naba and I made dudes on Phoenix EU server last night just so we could play. Figured that if anything, atleast we can progress on our characters and just server transfer in like a month or so after things settle down.

Join us on Phoenix if NA servers are still locked down and impossible to get in during prime hours.

Posted by: Crushinator Aug 27 2013, 09:44 AM

Do server transfers cost money? Or are they offering like freebie ones because of the overcrowding right now?

I read that after the first month they are gonna offer free transfers, but it might be just for people on over populated servers. I figure that if I'm serious enough about the game then I wouldn't mind paying for a transfer anyway if it comes to that.

Posted by: HC82 Aug 27 2013, 04:02 PM

Can't play this fucking game because all the servers are full. Seriously, every US and EU server is greyed out. I can't even make a fucking character... Ugh. Reminds me of Star Wars: TOR release on day 1, except shittier.

Hopefully the EU servers calm down later tonight and I can sneak a character on. Supposedly SqEnix is working on this problem within the week into next week. Oddly enough, the JP servers are all empty in the afternoon.

EDIT: Was able to get on the Phoenix Server. This seems to be the server where most of the AT is playing on right now.

Posted by: Ellianna Aug 27 2013, 04:27 PM

I have a question! My daughter's getting into games and made a character. Would you guys mind her in AT? If not, it's cool. She's 14...there's not much she hasn't heard, I'm not worried about that...and she's pretty quiet and keeps to herself. She hasn't had much luck getting far on other games due to not being the greatest at getting used to talking to people she doesn't really know. She's definitely NOT an obnoxious teen who talks too much...she could use the exp/help of a decent group of gamers...I cant play along with her since we only have 1 computer. :(

It's really a shame this launch has all these issues because the game is really good. I mean you have login errors, full servers, the whole sending out wrong codes and having so many codes to enter with like 2-3 different sites confusion. Not to mention a lot of people, including myself, are finding the first few hours of the game boring as hell. I wonder how many people will be turned off by it and not give the game a chance.

Anyway the game is really fun. And the people that seem to stick with it are a joy to play with. Seriously it really reminds of FFXI, in that you get to a point where players get past the noob wall and know what to do. The game really does teach how to play, something WoW has struggled with all these years (Just step into LFR in that game if you want to have a stroke).

I've been losing a lot of sleep over this game. Trying to advance further on the main quest and had to force myself to stop.

I encourage everyone to give this game a chance. If you are a Final Fantasy fan and even FFXI fan you will enjoy the hell of the game. It takes the best part of the those things and adds the good parts of modern MMO desgin with WoW controls. I don't know how Yoshida and his team got this game out the door with how shitty v1.0 was. It's hard to believe they built this game from that piece of shit.

I ran into the D!

Pooping in the pool.

Posted by: Scan_Man Aug 31 2013, 06:12 PM

I feel sorry for the folk that picked up the game this weekend to play. They pretty much are not allowing new characters to be made on almost every server. A friend of mine had to make a character on JP server yesterday. And I see on the updated list, now that server can't make new characters. They need to get this fixed soon, along with the login issues and disconnects. This launch is very similar to vanilla WoW. Not really hearing anything negative about the game, so it's a good sign that the complaints are people wanting to play if you know what I mean.

Hope transfers open soon though when this mess is fixed. Good they have been good about giving updates and plan to offer free time.

I am still enjoying the hell out of it. Even upgraded to digital CE for the mount. Love the theme for it. On the other hand, this version of the Chocobo theme got old fast for me.

Posted by: Kazicht Sep 1 2013, 09:53 AM

Grand Company... I dig the red standard. A future of pirating!

Got my Chocobo... named it Minaj. Chocobos are meant to flyyyy.

Posted by: Vitamin D Sep 1 2013, 06:30 PM

As a note to anyone who plans to still play, it's your best bet to try and get into the Phoenix server. We pretty much are just gonna stay there and move on later, provided we're still interested in the game haha. By the looks of things though, most of us are in for the long haul. Also, some good news.

Login Issue Update

I know many of you are still affected by the World login and character creation restrictions, so I would like to give you all a brief update on the progress of the measures we are taking to alleviate this situation.

Current Server Status

To ensure as many players as possible can log in and create characters on existing servers, our development and operations teams are monitoring server load and population around the clock, placing and removing restrictions with even the slightest fluctuation in numbers in order to maintain near-full capacity on each World. We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users. This number, however, has taxed some of our instance servers, and is causing unexpected down time here, as well.

Scheduled Maintenance for Wednesday, September 4 (Japan Time)

The addition of new Worlds, as well as the adjustments to the duty finder servers, will be complete as of tomorrow. We will then enter our final internal testing phase of these features in preparation. If the results from these tests are favorable, we will conduct an extended all-World maintenance on Wednesday (Japan time). Once the new Worlds are implemented and the duty finder server load has been redistributed over smaller World server groups, we believe that many of the login issues that players are currently experiencing will clear.

When Worlds do finally reopen after the maintenance, we expect a rush of players trying to log back in. To prevent any further login issues, we will be using the utmost caution when restarting each World. Please understand that there may be some congestion at this time.

The development and operations teams are currently dedicating their full resources to alleviating the issues at hand and providing all of our players with a stable environment in which to experience the realm of Eorzea.

Free Trial Extension

To apologize to our loyal fans who may not have been able to login or create characters during early access and the days immediately following launch, the development and operations teams are currently considering providing all player accounts with an additional seven days to their free trials. This includes non-legacy players from 1.0, who will be given new seven-day free trials. Trial extensions will be awarded after the aforementioned server maintenance on Wednesday. Details on the trial extension, including the extension period, will be released in a separate post as soon as they have been solidified.

We thank our fans again for the overwhelming support you have shown us over the past week. The response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn has well exceeded our expectations, and unfortunately resulted in our inability to provide the service which we originally intended. We humbly ask for your continued patience as we work to alleviate the issues as we truly appreciate all of our fans. We are very sorry for the frustration that has resulted from these problems.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida

Dope. I've not been having much trouble accessing the game at all, so more free playtime is just icing on the cake.

I unlocked the Dragoon advanced class this weekend and I have to say the way they present the classic FF 'Jobs' is pretty epic. The Dragoon one is so Highlander'ish - there can only be one! And I love being able to train and fight with my Chocobo companion! I feel like the game goes into high gear after level 15... and then at 30 it drives home that this is a Final Fantasy.

The amount of content so far is really impressive and I'm looking forward to the 2.1 and beyond patches, also it looks like they plan to stabalize server issues by Wednesday.

At this point it's pretty easy for me to forgive SE for the original's mess. This game really grabs at the heart of the Final Fantasy fan. It's got a soul that you can really feel when you start to discover more of the game and see what the development team is trying to accomplish, and you can easily see them saying "What makes Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy?"

If you don't like MMOs this game won't do anything to change that, but if you're a classic Final Fantasy fan and love games like FF12, the original FF Tactics, and Vagrant Story (all worked on by the same core team as FF14:RRB btw) then this is for you.

Posted by: Scan_Man Sep 3 2013, 02:15 PM

Yeah this game is legit Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy as not felt like Final Fantasy for far too long. This game brings it back imo. Everything I love about the series is in this game. You could pick this up as a single player game too and play as if it were any numbered FF. They really pulled off blending the multiplayer with the traditional Final Fantasy experience. Yoshida not only saved FFXIV, but the series as well I with this. He pulled off a miracle.

I can't praise this game enough. GOTY material for me.

Posted by: HC82 Sep 3 2013, 08:38 PM

Fuck this game; it's total trash. Worse final fantasy EVER!!!!

***Hides level 30 Paladin***

Seriously, this game is really good. I was totally jaded at first, but the game is truly that good. When I play this game, I feel like I had a fight with an ex-girlfriend (FFXIV 1.0), but then we hook up again and now I remember how sweet that 'boo-tay' was (FFXIV ARR).

I think the plan is to stick it out on Phoenix until they offer server transfers. Ideally we would like to be on NA servers for any endgame aspirations.

When i have time to play, I'm lovin it. I'm two requirements from obtaining my relic bow, which has proved insanely frustrating. One which just wants me to buy a drink, but the actual challenge? Titan hard mode. People just can't seem to stay alive during that fight, man. Plus, duty finder floods in people with the artifact armor. That causes imminent death to the under geared. :/

I would like to start off by apologizing for the login and character creation restrictions due to the heavy congestion during the two weeks following the launch of FFXIV: ARR. Twice now we've enhanced existing servers and introduced new servers, and with the upcoming additions that will be made starting in the middle of this month and finishing up at the end, we will have developed our expanded infrastructure to properly meet our operation needs.

As a result of players experiencing problems following the character creation restrictions, we have been working hard to introduce the World Transfer Service.

You picked a World because you liked the name, but character creation was closed when you tried to create a character.
You wanted to play with your real life friends, but were unable to create a character on their World.
You created a character on a World that is often congested and were often met with login restrictions.

Before you all read the official announcement, I've organized an outline of the World Transfer Service describing what it is, the benefits, risks, and case by case scenarios, so if you are thinking about using the World Transfer Service or plan on using it, please be sure to read on.

What is the World Transfer Service?

Simply put, the World Transfer Service is a service that will allow you to move from your current World to another World of your choice. Normally this is a fee-based service; however, as an apology to players for the aforementioned issues, we will be offering this service free for the first five days.

However, please be aware of the below.
A single transfer is a one to one transfer from your original World to a single destination World.
If it's a single destination, you can transfer up to eight characters at once.
In the event you would like to move character #1 to World A, and character #2 to World B or C, you will have to perform two world transfers.
In order to transfer, the below requirements need to be fulfilled:
→ You cannot belong to a Free Company (If you do belong to one, please leave the Free Company).
→ Make sure the character you wish to transfer is logged out.
→ Make sure there are no items being sold on the market boards.
→ There will be a limitation on the maximum amount of gil you can bring into the destination World.
Additional details on the rules and restrictions will be explained in the official announcement.

Furthermore, it will be possible to move from a new World to a new World, a Legacy World to a Legacy World, and a new World to a Legacy World. In the future, we will look at economic conditions on new Worlds and plan on making it possible to transfer from Legacy Worlds to new Worlds; however, this option will not be available at the start of the World Transfer Service. We appreciate your understanding.

What are the benefits of transferring Worlds?

One of the biggest reasons that people use World transfers is so that they can meet up with their friends and play together.

The largest benefits being that you can adventure with your friends, or meet up with the people you've become friends with via the Duty Finder, and of course play with the people you want to play with.

The service also gives you the ability to move to the World that features the name that you really like.

What are the risks of transferring Worlds?

There really aren't any negatives to transferring, but there are a couple of risks, which I would like to go over.

Risk of having to rename your character
One risk of transferring is that there may be a character on the destination World with the same name as you. In this case, the name priority is given to the person who is originally from that World.
If you try to move your character to this World, you will be asked to change your name. Applying for the World Transfer Service will be performed from the Mog Station. When applying, the system will check whether there is a character residing on the destination World with the same name. However, there may be cases where a character with the same name is created on the destination World a second sooner than when you are transferred, and while this might be extremely rare, please understand that we cannot guarantee anything.

Risk of congestion
In the event that you use the World Transfer Service and the destination World is one with a large population, login restrictions may be enacted during each region's peak time, which falls between 9 p.m. to midnight. While we have raised the amount of players that can simultaneously play on each World to 8,000, if this number is exceeded, we may impose login restrictions to prioritize World stability. In the event you wish to transfer to a heavily populated World, please understand this risk. Currently the following Worlds are heavily populated:

NA/EU Data Center

Behemoth
Cactuar
Excalibur(LEGACY)
Hyperion(LEGACY)
Moogle(EU)
Ultros

Please keep this in mind if you're thinking about transferring to one of the above Worlds. Also, if you and your friends plan on congregating on a specific World, it would be best to avoid the above in order to have a stable play environment.

Risk of gil loss
When transferring Worlds, in the event the destination World is a new World, in order to prevent the transportation of RMT gil, there will be limitations on the amount of gil that you can bring to the destination World. This is a critical specification in order to protect the economic conditions on each World, so before transferring, please keep this in mind. In the event you transfer Worlds and you exceed the gil limit, the amount that exceeds the limit will be lost.

Risk of a period where you cannot log in
It's difficult for us to predict the amount of people that will be applying for a transfer during the free period. You will need to be logged out for the transfer to occur and we will be transferring characters in the order that was requested. In the event that there are a large amount of applications then there is the possibility that you will not be able to log in for a couple of days. We will keep an eye on the congestion and make announcements regarding this, but in the worst case scenario, please understand that you may not be able to log in for a couple of days until the transfer has been completed.

Warning if you are transferring to a specific World because you like the name

Due to the character creation restrictions that were imposed after the official launch of service, there may be cases where you really wanted to play on Chocobo, but made a character on a different server. By using the World Transfer Service, you will be able to move to the World of your choice. However, as I mentioned above, in the event that the destination World is heavily populated, there is a possibility that login restrictions will be imposed during peak times. Please carefully consider this when making your decision.

Warning if you are moving to a World with multiple friends

In the event you have four friends who had to make characters on four separate Worlds, you can use the World Transfer Service to all meet up on a single World. However, please make sure that the destination World is not overpopulated for all of you. Transferring with multiple people will affect the population, so we recommend selecting a World that has a comparatively lower population so that peak times are stable.

NA/EU Data Center

Coeurl
Brynhildr
Faerie
Famfrit
Goblin
Lamia
Lich(EU)
Malboro
Mateus
Siren
Zalera

The above Worlds have a good amount of room, even during peak times, and are also a good destination for those who are just starting FFXIV: ARR. These are great choices for those of you wishing to transfer with multiple people, so please consider these.

I apologize that there were those of you who were unable to select the World of your choice due to character creation restrictions. We will be announcing details and rules for the World Transfer Service in the coming days.

Thank you so much for your continued support for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The option is to still go back to Ultros is there. We'd also like if you other guys who are playing come with us to wherever, just sayin'.

I'm pulling a crushinator here and can't figure this shit out. I go to the mog station and try to register my payment method, but the site keeps telling me to fuck off and giving me a 601 error message. I've tried 3 different cards, 2 debits 1 credit.
Do I have to cancel the service account to which my game code is registered to and re-register as a new service account? It says FF XIV 1 currently on my service account. I tried doing a new service account and using my game serial number but it said that it was already registered.

I had to go the crysta route via paying by paypal for FFXI. Due to the way SE's credit processor works, most banks and cc companies automated anti fraud systems flag the process and then gets kicked back to SE as denied.

Hey dudes. So if you're interested, I don't know how many of you are 50 at this point, but i'm running with a very stable FC of folks who came from FFXI roots. (Might even know some?) They're good people and good players. I was wondering if we're ok with the idea of jumping into that FC and also putting up a AT LS.

Posted by: Wiryu Oct 24 2013, 07:50 AM

Definitely worth mentioning that most of these folks are geared up with DL/Relic and relic weaps.

Posted by: HC82 Oct 24 2013, 12:03 PM

We're all at 50. Send us a friend request so we can chat in-game. Our characters are on the main AT page.

As a whole a few of us are fully DL/Relic geared with some AF2 pieces to boot. Some of us are a Titan kill away from Relic.
