Apocalypse Tribe HQ _ The Lounge _ Obama wins

Posted by: Crushinator Nov 4 2008, 10:14 PM

I know we haven't had any political talk on this board yet (aside from confirming Sarah Palin as a cougar and MILF.)

But I'm happy Obama won, I was afraid America might make the same mistake 3 times in a row, but we got it right this time.

AT thoughts?

Personally, I voted for McCain and Obama didn't convince me. I hoping I'm wrong though. Lord knows our country and my wallet can't afford him being the wrong choice.

Good luck to the secret service, cuz Lord knows they're gonna need it. INC help wanted ads from the US Treasury.

I voted McCain btw.

Just get Jack Bauer on the job and he'll be safe. buttrock.gif

I voted for Obama, and I'm glad he's our President. Going off what DE said though, for some people, this means the end of the world. There are some radical folks out there who I'm SURE would want to see the man dead. Though I pray it doesn't happen. If he makes it 4 years, I hope he does a good job. Not like it'll be hard to be better than our last President. beigerolleyes.gif

8 years of republican presidency, and nothing to show but a shitty economy, and a war that was supposed to have ended years ago. Go Obama, fix what's broken.

Posted by: Retehi Nov 4 2008, 10:53 PM

Hell yeah, way to be a part of history!

Rock on Mr President.

I'm glad Obama won, because Palin being a heartbeat away from the presidency was truly terrifying me

I know what you mean. Being a Washington D.C. native I never seen so many people happy in this area before. You go down some streets of D.C. and you can still see the damage left over from when the city was destroyed during riots after the death of MLK. Now 40 years later there are were people of all races filling those same streets, dancing, hugging strangers, and crying with tears of joy.

Yeah, it made me pretty happy too. I'm glad I could vote in this historical election. Time to clean up the mess that the stupid cowboy made. The only thing I'm disappointed in is all the anti-gay propositions that went through (that shouldn't even have been propositions), and the still low percentage of young voters. Gay couples can no longer get married in California, or Arizona. I forgot what state it was, but gay couples there cannot adopt a child together. What right do 3+ million STRAIGHT people have voting on telling gay people what they can do?

A black president doesn't mean we're a country free of bigotry. America still makes me sick sometimes.

One thing I have found interesting is the global views on the election outcome. If any good has come from the past 8 years, its that the world has started to realize that decisions made in the Oval Office, Kremlin, or any other house of policy no longer stop at some magical line drawn on a map. Humanity is evolving to a point where borders, mountains, or oceans no longer shelter them from others, not even others ideals. The sooner everyone realizes that the archaic ideals of old where magic lines on maps, your skin color or really ANYTHING made you superior or inferior to someone else need to be finally done away with; the sooner we can all live in a world where we devote our energy to the betterment of life, not improving how we destroy it. We've taken another step in the direction we need to, lets hope we can continue on this path.

Well said. I feel that Obama's leadership will be a big step towards uniting people across not only political partisan divides, but internationally as well.

Its a new era! (Well, after January, that is.)

We gotta take it steps at a time. I mean if you look at most of a lot of countries like Russia for example, the stuff that goes on there is crazy. Better yet, look at international soccer, some of the most hated filled things you will ever see come from the european countries. Racism, Prejudice, and Bigotry is a human nature thing not exlusive to America.

don't you think it's ironic that gay marriage is legal in the UK a country some of our ancestors left so they could have more freedom. =P

Posted by: Crushinator Nov 11 2008, 04:38 AM

They left the country to have the religious freedom to practice a more conservative religion (protestants, quakers, puritans, etc.) than what was being enforced in England.

Its not ironic, it actually makes perfect sense in that context.
