I think this is my Game of the Year. The game is by Bethesda Softwords the same developer that brought us the Elder Scrolls games.
What can I say this game has all the greatness of Oblivion. Though things like stats are simplified and classes are more less or less how you wish to interact in the world (for example do you want to be a gun nut, or going around repairing things for money). At times its very much like Oblivion even down to the world map music cues, down to the voice overs, and down to the quest system. Though what is a vast improvement over Oblivion is the world is actually interesting to explore. Kind of like how Morrowind was. The weapons are awesome. Anything your enemies drop you can pick up and use. If anything you have to see the VAT system in action. Hahaha I'm in love with headshots now. Anyway the VAT system is basically gives the combat a more turn-based rpg, dice roll, feel. Otherwise you can play this game as an action shooter. Overall I am looking forward to logging hundreds of hours on this game like I did Obilivion. I can't wait until a couple years from now when the modding community starts fleshing the game out beyond the current content. I'm a mod nut. I have 80 mods going on Oblivion currently. "Broken Steel" release date announced, May 5th!
Not only does this extend the gameplay past the "end" (by allowing you to send in a companion to activate project purity, like many of us had suspected) with more quests in the Capital Wasteland, but it also adds a new area at Adams Air Force Base. There's a big interview at gamespot covering the details of the quest/story content: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fallou...topslot;thumb;2 Also, yesterday Bethesda announced they are partnering with Obsidian Software to develop "Fallout: New Vegas", a new Fallout RPG for 2010. This isn't going to be an expansion to F3, but apparently a whole new RPG, in the same style as Fallout 3. Normally I'd be worried with shifting development to another team, BUT Obisidian is recreated from the remnants of Black Isle, the original creators of Fallout 1 & 2 from Interplay. -------------------- |
