F2P model with character buy-in is an interesting experiment for a fighting game. I'm sure there will be some kind of "the whole enchilada" package where you just unlock everything for like 25-50 bucks or some shit.

I wonder if they'll have "demo" versions of chars so you can test them out before committing.

As for the Dev... Double Helix is responsible for Silent Hill Homecoming, which is one of my most hated games of all time (even though i did S-rank it playing through it 3 times...) so I'm kinda torn too. Front Mission Evolved wasn't that bad though.

Personally, I think the game looks really fun, and from the sound of it, it'll be just fine.



Also, as far as the free-to-play, this is a VERY recent thing that developers are doing, and I can't say I'm much of a fan myself. I rather just buy the game outright. Anyway, Dead Or Alive and Tekken are doing it too:

Why this is a thing, I don't know. I can see how there's mass potential profit, but I hope this doesn't become the norm.

im one of the biggest KI fans but from what i see thus far id of prefeered if it stayed dead.

This was me playing KI the other day at EVO. Me being Sabrewulf obviously:

Round 1: I kick the guys ass.

Round 2: Guy comes back with a vengeance.

Round 3: DOWN TO THE WIRE, GET HYPED! I win.





Seriously, this is an amazingly crafted game. Theres a couple of new stages to show off, Glacius' being utterly awesome looking. I was pensive about hearing who made this game, but they seems to know what they're doing. I'm sold.

KI's pricing structure was revealed at GamesCom this week.

The "free base game" basically boils down to a demo, you can only play as Jago but you do have access to play online against all other opponents.

Each character is $5 if purchased individually A-la-carte, or you can buy the "Combo Breaker pack" for $20 and have all 8 characters. Seems quite reasonable to me.

There is also the $40 "Ultra Edition" which includes all 8 chars, special skins and accessories, and an emulated version of the original KI arcade game. I wonder if the nintendo branding and stuff will still be in the original KI and MS had to license it? Should be interesting.

When I get an Xbone, I'll definitely just drop 40 bones on the "Ultra" edition. It makes the most sense to me. Especially with a copy of the OG arcade game thrown in.

So far, the playable characters are Jago, Sabrewulf, Glacius, and Chief Thunder. There's supposed to be 6 at launch, and 8 a bit down the line. I hope the next four include Fulgore, Orchid and Cinder. Maybe TJ Combo? haha.

I've been watching this game quite a bit, and I'm still pretty hype. It looks like a lot of fun, and fan feedback is actively been taken into account with each build. GOOD SHIT.
