HA! I so called it (Listen at 31:34 on the podcast haha). Though I didn't think it'd be Final Fantasy. That's a nail in the coffin if I've ever seen one...

Still need to have netflix subscription to access them.

Somehow, I'm not surprised that FFXIII is coming to the 360 as well.

Dear Xbox LIVE Member,

When we launched Xbox 360 in November 2005, Xbox LIVE was integrated directly into the console. Back then, Xbox 360 was the first system to deliver access to experiences beyond just the disc in the tray. With the Xbox guide and dashboard you had access to everything on your console as well as your community.

We also imagined that Xbox experience would continuously improve over time, through the power of software.

Since launch, you’ve always pushed us to continuously innovate. It is because you spoke with one loud voice that we added new features like background downloading, 1080p support, movies and TV shows, video chat, a Marketplace blade and instant messaging.

Over time, as we’ve delivered more and more content into the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, we’ve heard from many of you that it has become increasingly difficult to find the games and content you want.

And that brings us to today.

Because of your feedback, we started rethinking the entire Xbox experience. What we discovered was that we could not only provide a better experience for you, but also something that reaches out to new audiences.

What John Schappert unveiled for the world on stage at E3 was just a sneak preview, so I wanted to share some deeper details on some of the new features in the new Xbox experience.

Here is a look at some additional features you will find interesting:

· Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

· Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console. Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work.

· Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

· LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

· Xbox LIVE Primetime. This whole new category of games is going to give you more reasons to get online with your friends. Games will support everything you’d expect, like Achievements and leader boards, but many of these games will include real prizes. You can invite your friends, and even set a reminder for an upcoming show. Each game is broadcast simultaneously, so everyone is answering the same questions. Many events will have a live host, calling the shots as they happen.

· Avatars. Your online identity started as a Gamertag - it then grew into a personalized Gamercard. Now, it has evolved even further into avatars. You can express your style, check out new outfits and share this with the community. Avatars will also be integrated into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, LIVE Party, as well as retail games.

· New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

This is only the beginning. Over the next few months, we will share more details on the upcoming changes.

See you online,

Marc Whitten

Holy crap thats awesome

If I'm understanding this correctly, we can all party up and watch a movie if one of us has a netflix account (which I do) We can do our very own Apocalypse Tribe version of Mystery Science Theater 3000! LOL

Some Nintendo Press Conference highlights:

-Motion Plus add-on for the Wii-mote.

-Wii Speak: Voice chat for the Wii? NO WAI

-Animal Crossing for Wii announced

-GTA on DS? lololol Set in Chinatown in Liberty City.

-ANOTHER Guitar Hero for the DS =T

-Wii Music. Full band only using the wiimote.

Posted by: Ether Jul 15 2008, 11:36 AM

Oh my god, Wii music was just embarrassing, and people will probably buy it like hotcakes too

Posted by: Crushinator Jul 15 2008, 12:19 PM

Yeah, nintendo's presentation seemed a bit underwhelming. The "precision" add on for the wii-mote seems promising though, and packing it with Wiisports 2 is pretty much guaranteeing a 1:1 adoption rate.

I'll be honest, I'm excited for Animal Crossing (no homo). Other than that I can't really give many shits about Nintendo's lineup.

Dow2 Trailer. Gamespot sucks and so does their embed code so no clue if it'll work for everyone.

If the vid no worky, which I am sure it wont. fuck you gamespot you worthless pieces of shit!
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/gamespace/download_alt.php?sid=6193807&pid=945727
is the download page, that one should work after entering age as that is where I watched it originally.

Posted by: AC9breaker Jul 15 2008, 01:41 PM

Yeah oddies, vid didn't work for me. says undefined after I confirm my dob

Sony conference almost over. Im gonna go ahead and say MS won this years E3 with their conference. really surprised.

Nintendo : lets look stupid on stage. WTF Wii Music?

Sony: lets talk about the same things we've been talking about for the last 8 months. I lol hard when the dood said over 130 new titles for the ps2. About 100 of them seemed to be EA games.

Posted by: ZioII Jul 15 2008, 01:49 PM

Once again Nintendo disappoints. They either rehash their old franchises, or just keep making games that focus on manipulating some cartoony avatar on the screen by flailing your wiimote around. I wish there were real games that took full advantage of the motion sensor technology rather than games like wii jump, wii skip, wii swim and shit. Not to mention the millions of new peripherials for the stupid thing. Hey our original design for the wiimote sucked, heres an update that we'll eventually force you all to buy along with the steering wheel, zapper, balance board, wii fit, and all that other bullshit.

I would pay an undisclosed sum of american dollars to play "Wii Shit". beigelaugh.gif

Sony is still playing the catch-up game with MS. Movie store on PSN... yeah welcome to XBL last year? Home is still not ready, same old bullshit as last year's E3. Nothing new outside of God of War 3 and "Massive Action Game". MAG seems a bit too high-concept, lets see if it actually flies with the PSN infrastructure. 80 gig PS3 with no BC? Lame.

I hope Sony and Nintendo can step it up with the floor show. Come on! Show Kid Icarus or a new (Wiiware) 2d Metroid!

New trailer for Bionic Commando. Looks fucking awesome.

Posted by: AC9breaker Jul 19 2008, 12:42 AM

I'm sure most of you guys have already seen this but I had to post this here. Best fucking trailer at E3 hands down.

Posted by: Crushinator Jul 19 2008, 12:44 AM

Yeah, best trailer of E3 for sure. Watch the HD version for the full effect, though.

That's the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.
