I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the Warhammer 40k line of gaming products. It is more prevalent in the UK, where it originated. WH40K is a tabletop strategy game. Players are encouraged to collect and paint the numerous miniatures and create/purchase scenery pieces. Collecting and painting the armies and units is part of the draw. I have collected and played Warhammer for many years now, and am pleased to bring you this news on a new PC title based on the franshise. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is a Real Time Strategy game, much like the Warcraft/Starcraft series. I am sure you are all familair with how RTS game work so I won't go into detail here. What makes this game unique is the fact that it is true 3D, with the ability to zoom in and watch the action up close and personal. Quote from IGN.

Alright! Another RTS for me to try out, and set in the Warhammer universe, I like.
I used to paint the little figurines for my friends all the time, cause they sucked at it, hehe. -------------------- |

Wow. Dive, you totally took be back in time. Many, many years. I used to collect and paint D&D figures when I was like 12 or so. Damn, that was fun. I think I still have a few hidden away. I know I have all of my original dice still. -------------------- |

I got into the closed Beta. The game is pretty badass. The totally 3D engine is amazing, you can zoom right in and watch the carnage up close and personal like. With the inclusion of an Army Painter feature, you can completely customize your Squads and Vehicles with your own colors and banners. I am looking into making some Apocalypse Tribe banners and colors for a Space Marine Legion.
I think the beta is closed once again, but they are always opening it up, try for a key if you want to check this game out. Sign up for a Beta Key If you get a key, download the beta here. |

Apocalypse Tribe chapter colors (pending)
AT shoulder badge. AT Predator Tank. Can't change the army name in the beta, but when the retail ships, you can be guaranteed that AT will be well represented in the Warhammer universe. |

Haha, those decals and banners are really cool. I like the level of detail on the units when you zoom in, you don't see that much on RTS games.

With my videocard on its way, I've been looking for something to test it out. With the talk of the Warhammer game to come next year I thought I would look into this one. I've been reading up on this game and it sounds/looks totally badass. It recieved alot of good reviews. Different then most of the games I usually play. It reminds me alot of this old tabletop game I use to play with my brothers called Mage Knight, except better. There also seems to be another expansion for this in the works due sometime this year which will include 2 new races. Maybe we can get some friendly multiplayer games going sometime in the future. Oh yeah lmao at the name of the Orc troops. Mega Armored Nobz haha -------------------- "Brotherhood asked for no friendship, only loyalty. I picked this game up for 30 Bucks today, got Dawn of War and the Winter Assult Expansion. Holy Crap this game is badass! The intro cutscene where just too sweet. Took me an hour to do the tutorial. After I was done with that I went into the Winter Assault and did a campaign for the orc/chaos faction. Crazy fun. I'm still trying to figure out how to make your own Emblems. Gotta Rep AT once I decide to try online.
