some of you might havce noiticed my recent absence from FFXI, I am giving it a break for a bit cause I got World of Warcraft. My charactor on Stormrage is Georgeon. He is a level 8 human warrior. I want to give this game a try for the full free month so I can see if FFXI is gonna stay around in my future.

You posted this in the Monster Hunter forum. =/ I'm sure you meant to post this in the WoW section. On a side note I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it on Monster Hunter anytime soon.

Does anyone still play this game anymore?
How is the solo play?
If a new guy, me, were to pick it up would there be any ol' AT'ers who would meet up with me online?

I still have it but haven't played it in months. =(

It's not that the game is bad, it is actually super fun. It's the lack of a halfway decent communication system that drives me nuts. There is no way to really contact anyone unless you happen to catch them in the lobby or town area before they do a quest. There is no mail system like PSO, so to speak.

The solo play is ok but I don't think the game is really worth more than $20 if you are going to only play offline. Reason being some items and bosses can only be accessed through playing online.

Despite the shortcomings, the online portion can provide some amazing fun. I'm sure some peeps around here and possibly myself (if I can find a way to pry myself from WoW ^^;) would gladly meet you online sometime if you were to get the game.

I picked up Monster Hunter a few weeks ago.
It is fun, but i am finding it really hard to progress. Money is really scarce so upgrading weapons and armor doesn't happen often. I have made it only to like the 7th or 8th quest (the large orange headed Velociraptor) and I am unable to kill it. It might be because of my oh-so-weak bone knife I bet. I tried online, for the first time, last night. Does AT have an offical world, town, area, whatever (like we did in PSO)? I only tried one quest - finding 15 special mushrooms - but I was unable to find the 15th one and I had to quit. Again, because of my weak-ass bone knife I was stomped on severly by those dame boars. But I am re-doing the earlier quests so I can get more cash. Before quitting last night I bought a new Iron Sword. Hopefully I can kill a bit more easily now.

Using these controls really makes me miss the PSO controls. Just because you have more buttons doesn't mean you have to use them all guys. beigesmile.gif
