I'll answer the thread question in 3 words. "Yes, yes, and yes." Why? Well...I DO have an Afro in real life (though it's more of a halfro shades.gif ) and his stance is to chill, like me. Simply put...Vitamin D IS me! *gasp!*

Yea,you can always catch me running the streets with a photon rifle.
Sometimes you might be able to spot a symbol chat floating about my head,or when i speak,it comes out in speech bubbles.

Actually,i think your symbol chat reflects your personallity more. Some ppl have really artistic ones etc some ppl have cartoon ones. Some people copy.....

I like Androids thought because they are simple, but them i like Fo or rangers and i get bored easily so whe i get to lvl 40,i want a different challenge so i change chara's.
Maybe if i could have em all in one? bash.gif argh knock it onthe head!

QUOTE (Shojin @ May 9 2003, 09:50 AM)
hmm Ive always thought of Role Playing as "Playing a game in which you control a person or thing through a story or sequence of events and interpret a path for he/she/it."  THats what ive always thought, and any character i make is directly related to my personality imo.

Let me clarify: I specifically said, "I don't role play in PSO". When I play PSO, what you see is the real Shotie, not a character in my mind that I pretend I am when I'm playing. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not. Now, it's fine if you want to do that; PSO certainly encourages that, and it can be a blast. But I don't pretend I'm really my RAcaseal, or really a FOmarl when I'm playing. I'm still me, Shotie, no matter what character you see on the screen, the same personality comes out of it.

Now there IS a huge difference between playing a role-playing game, and ROLE-playing in a role-playing game. You follow?

Example: When someone plays Final Fantasy X, they are playing a role that has been preconcocted for them by other people. You don't interact with other real people however, only other characters within the game. (i.e. not online)

When you role-play, in an enviroment where you can choose the role, and customize it, then you are truly role-playing, not taking on someone else's preconceived role that everyone who plays that game must take.

I think I'm having a hard time explaining what I'm getting at here...

The bottom line is, there are different kinds of role-playing here. When you play a video game of any kind, yes, technically you are taking on that character's role, playing from their point of view. However, this isn't really the type of role play we're discussing here. We mean, in an eviroment when you do not HAVE to role-play, do you choose to role-play anyway?

You don't have to role-play in PSO. You are not forced to take on a character's background really. You can play without that. Or, you can say that you're a mercenary HUnewearl sent to destroy all HUmars cause you're the Amazonian Leader of PSO Lesbians Who Hate HUmars or something-but you don't have to.

Am I making sense at all? I didn't get much sleep last night....haha

i think each of my characters represents a different aspect of me
RAcaseal-tall and athletic me whoo me jams in yo face lol
Hunewearl-um teh hotness lol thats it beigebigrazz.gif but she also represents an outgoing me wich is a side i rarely show offline
Fomarl-represenst the shy and timid me the most accurate representation of me when playing my fomarl i tend to hide behind people or objects but cross me and feel my wrath

a good way to understand the difference it so compare, say. Final fantasy X, with stuff like "dungeons and dragons"... witch pso is quite similar to, IMO, since it has no real "set" storyline, or any kind of character background.
