Until we get a guild going (more on that soon), and for our friends in other guilds we have been using a custom chat channel in game. I am not sure if the channel goes away if no one is online, but if you are the only one online feel free to create it, and everyone else that logs on can join in. You can even customize the font color like the FFXI LS chat.

chat commands:

/join at to join the channel, this also creates it if does not exist.

/# where # is the number of the chat channel, to talk in the channel.

This is a great way, even when we get the guild going, to keep communication up with our friends in other guilds.

After joining the chat channel last night, I thought the idea of having an inter-guild chat channel would be cool. Tell me whatcha think and If everyone likes the idea, I'll pimp it to the rest of the VM'ers.

ps. For those that don't know, you can make seperate windows/tabs (right click on tab) and filter what chat goes where. I currently have a seperate window for guild / at chatl. Makes it easy to keep up with different conversations.

Now that we have our guild going, we started up an interguild chat channel with the folks from Voodoo Moose. So for Guild chat, use /g. To get in on the interguild fun, /join atvm.

One suggestion if you have not done so already, create a new chat window, and filter out all but Guild, atvm, Party, and Whisper. It would also help to adjust the font color for each channel. To adjust font colors and other settings, right click on the chat window tab.

Thanks to SaitoH for suggesting this and helping keep our communities close.
