I saw it this weekend and I have to say that I really liked it. I have heard nothing but so-so reviews, but this series of books are one of the only ones I have ever really enjoyed reading so I was not going to be be swayed. I am glad I didn't listen because I thought it was a really good movie. Sure, you have to be a dork and sure I know most of my liking of the movie was based on nostalgia, but... pffft! It sure makes you feel good when most of the audience claps (along with yourself) when Marvin first appears on screen.

They hit all the good points in the book and I thought it was pretty similar in style to the old BBC TV series. The good part is that they TOTALY left it open to make another movie based on the next book.
So, if you're in the mood for a good, fun, dorky good time, go see it.

they did a horrid job.
why did they add a love story?
why did they lose all the wit?
since when do they go to Vogsphere?
why did Ford suddenly become a secondary character?
i give it a plus 5 for style and negative several hundered thousand for story.

Not to add a spoiler...but I heard they did not go to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe at the end? That kinda...sucks? Tell me I heard wrong!

The movie took most of it's elements from the first book. The characters travel to "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" in the second book, bearing said title.
I thought it was a great adaptation, I enjoyed it immensely. Of course nothing is perfect.
Remember, DONT PANIC!

it really doesn't much matter to me how much of the script was written by Adams.
what dissapointed me was that "they" took something that was immensly witty and funny and turned it into something dull and incredibly unfunny.

The following is a true story based on an actual event that took place while Icarus and I were walking one day.
scu - "Whoa look! A one hundred dollar bill just laying in the street!!"
icarus - "Nah. Leave it. It's wrinkled anyways."

i have to say, that i find this recent banter an interesting allegory.
the tale involving SCU and myself is quite pleasant, until the element of money is introduced. Then, said tale gets ugly and violent.
i find this is the issue with most things in life these days, especially the (majority of) the recent productions from "The Entertainment Capitol of The World".
while money (or marketablity) may not be the particular issue i have with the newest incarnation of Hitchhiker's, i think it is a major issue in the recent quality-deficient films of late.

I drew a picture of a monster today.
I will sell it to you Icarus, for $100.
