Capcom officially announced development of the true successor to the fighting game king, Street Fighter 4, today. HEL YEH. It's a year or so out from release now, but we can assume it will be (at least) for 360 and PS3 (and hopefully online!.)

They are also making a new next-gen BIONIC COMMANDO, as well as the followup to the Phoenix Wright series "Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice", and porting Lost Planet to PS3.

If this is coming to 360, then I am completely sold whether the game looks like this or not.

If they did all 2d gameplay, but with 3d cel/paint/whateveryoucallit from the trailer -shaded graphics, add in online play, this game would be ownage enough to not have enough street fighter for another 10 years.

This may seem contradictory, but while I do like the overall look, I don't like the character design at all. They kind of seem to change with the angle you're looking at them, but Ryu looks like a dumb meat-head. Maybe I'm just too picky about characters I really like. Other than that, I loved the look; Like the whole style of everything looking like a drawing. It was really cool how you could see the "chi energy" or whatever during the whole fight, and how it would get pushed around as they fought (and sucked in during making a fireball).

wow, that was pretty cool. Looks like it would be an opening CG or something. I'm curious if they're gonna try making the jump to 3d again. I hope they get the same composer from Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. I love that sound track and the remixes even more.

Fuck. Yes. I can't wait for a new Street Fighter. That video was pretty badass too. I'm anxious to find out more about it.

Hells yeah, the original Bionic Commando showed just how overrated a jump button is.
I didn't even realize that was the tower climbing song in till I listed to it closer. I have they have a faster tempo version, it would own hard as hell.

I'd have to be downright crazy to pass this up. I may not have been great at the SF games, but I was certainly no slouch. Though if you really wanted to be cheesy, you either picked Ryu, Ken or Dhalsim and spammed fireballs, or used Bison and spammed psycho crusher. I wonder if the end boss will be as crazy as Gill.

my only regret is that there probally wont be cross platform networkplay. i dont trust that screen shot till i see the game in action but a new street fighter game is definately a good thing. i dont think the last boss will be as crazy as gil because he was designed to eat quaters.

Thats why you get it on 360, the obvious platform of choice if you want to play you console games online.

I really hope I get one under my imaginary tree this christmas. As for Gill, your safest bet was to shut him out before he can fill up his EX meter. It was no easy task though. Resurrection wasn't terribly difficult to deal with. But God help you if he used Seraphic Wing or his other super art on you.

i actually prefer if he does ressurection because you can knock hom out of it before he heals to full. me get a 360? dream on not enough good games that i want for it yet. maybe when lost oddysy comes out. as for the screenshot i dont trust it because theres nothing to indicate weather its an ingame shot.

Well, if the 360 can make a convert out of someone like me who was once so die-hard anti-Xbox, you know it's got something.

Any doubts should be put to rest with this. The game looks TIGHT AS HELL. The animation is faster and smoother than I could have imagined, and the gameplay sounds intense.

ive seen a video that shows gameplay. right now my only concern is the camera angles n some moves could be problematic for combos.

Yeah Ken throwing Ryu and they kinda like fly towards the background and the camera angle shifts to show its a 3D space. Weird. Reminds me of Killer Instinct on the roof top stages.

I'll be interested to see how many old characters come back. I suppose we could rule out Bison, since he's officially dead thanks to Akuma. But if Akuma can trash a submarine with his bare hands, Bison can come back to the land of the living, though I don't see Capcom doing that. Stranger things have happend though.

There's a new trailer for this game, and it's awesome. There's some random moonspeak that scrolls over it though... so if that get annoying here's the considerably lower quality YouTube version haha.



Long story short, I was down for this game since its announcement. Now though, I'm psyched beyond reason for the game haha. This trailer combined with the few match videos released, and I'm positive I'll be playing the hell out of it. My brother and I already have the PS3 Special Edition preordered, and it's more than likely I'll get a 360 version on top of that. I can't wait, February can't come any sooner!

something has been bugging me. why does a game called street fighter 4 look so much like street fighter 2? but perhaps its for the best that i have no real expectations for this game.


edit: i posted that before watching the video D posted. its neat how even though its 3d it looks stylistically somewhere between sfa3 and sf3 and i didnt realize it had characters from sfa. still i dont like guile i want charlie in it =( oh well i still have sfa3 on my psp i just bought. before i watched that i thought it was gonna turn out like rival schools with better graphics.

You are such a retro-softcore gamer now, I don't think you need to even concern yourself with reading about any new game coming out. I've said it before; you never accept anything new, you just want the same old games from 10 years ago. Thats cool, stick with the old ones, there's tons out there. Just don't go deluding yourself that you're so HxCore and all these newfangled games are just shitty and don't have the spirit, quality, or challenge of the "good old days."

SF4 is the most exciting fighting game to come out since... SF3! You are honestly the only person I've ever seen who is disappointed by how its turning out at this point. When it was first shown/announced there were lots of detractors, but now that we can actually see how the game plays, how the system works, people getting their actual HANDS ON the game in the arcades... there is no doubt this is going to be astounding. If you can't get hyped for god damned 100% brand new Street-Fucking-Fighter game then honestly I think its time to move on from gaming.

So Kotaku posted Street Fighter IV's achievements.. They range from "Haha that's easy!" to "WTF ARE YOU SERIOUS!?" Needless to say, if anyone (like myself) is aiming for 1000 points, a LOT of X Box Live matches are ahead. I got 1000 points on Soul Calibur IV, and hopefully I can do the same for this game, bring it!
