I got it after looking at it for a while... I think I've seen something like this before too, maybe on tv, don't remember though

The first few times I did it, I did it backwards and got the wrong answers. Sometimes I freak people out with it on AIM :D

Relying on probability is not the best thing. First time I tried it , it failed to deliver the correct symbol, i tried it again and it worked. More or less each value will correspond with a few symbols.

Well, I'm not gonna spoil if for everyone else and reveal how it works. But if it ever gets the wrong symbol, let's just say you did your math wrong. ;-)
