OK this game rocks hard.
Voice overs are pretty good. If that's not your cup of tea, you can change the voices to Japanese.
Graphics and animations kicks ass.
Music is top notch.
The game picks up rather nicely. The intro totally sets the mood to OMG.
Dual wielding! And you can swap between 3 configurations later on in the game.
The game is harder than you think.
I will try to finish it before the next show.
But yeah, pick up the game mang.

Yeah, this game is pretty tight. Definitely hard too, it doesn't seem to hold your hand as much as the previous DS 'Vania's did.

The whole Simon's Quest-style map/stage setup kinda eliminates the exploration factor from previous games, but it also means there's a lot more variety in the level designs. The enemy sprites are largely redrawn, too. The only rehash I've noticed from the old DracX/SOTN sprites are the skeletons, so far.

Enjoying the hell out of the game so far. Really does not pull any punches with difficulty. Second boss is giving me trouble right now. Its like 3 hits and I'm dead.

is this metroid'ish like the gba ones? if it is i'll pass. i miss the days of games like castlevania 3 and castlevania bloodlines.

Why do you even play/read about new games then? Just go to a pawn shop and buy a bigass box of NES carts for like 50 bucks, and you'll be set for years.

You never want to try anything new, unless its exactly the same as the old games you liked before. Wait, maybe that's why you only seem to care about stagnant genres like JRPG and 2D fighting, which haven't advanced an inch since the 90's.

A lot less like Metroid this time around. The first half of the game has linear stages old school Castlevania style. There is very little backtracking unless you want to get a 100% complete game to get items you missed. This game shines most with its difficult boss encounters or parts they throwing lots of enemies at you with the damn crows. The later half of the game is Dracula's Castle and its got the standard Metroidness to it but its actually still pretty linear compared to other Metroidvania's.

I like the game because it is more old school than the previous games. The thing I hate most about Metroid and Metroidvanias is the backtracking. You know the you need to get to this area and keep trying then you realize you need some special power you find much later. But I almost always forget I need to come back when I find the power up anyway and get stuck. Whatever. I was glad that I did not have to worry about backtracking in this one.

Oh and the main character is a girl.

you have the wrong idea this time. i've played all the portable castlevania's but i rarely finish them because i get fed up with being lost and not knowing where to go next. especially in the one with Juste where there is 2 dimmensions.

I heard somewhere that there's sites on the internet that help you if you get stuck in a game. Maybe its just a rumor though.

I finally got to Dracula's Castle, this game may just beat Circle of the Moon as the hardest of modern Metr... er Castlevania games. Also you must find all the towns folk, or you get stuck with the bad ending.

I'm totally in love with Dracula's Castle theme. I placed it in my top 5 Castlvania tracks of all time.
