~indeed, the halloween quest is an interesting one for the history books; although out of the 2 choices for music, i favor the one with the female vocalist better.. Oo JP has, unusual taste ~ but that's what makes this a unique experience..

~anyways, i'm certain many of us have done this, & yes - we now need the help of our fellow brethren to fulfill our cake set(s) for acquiring the jack-o-lanterns.. i'm curious as to what cake-type everyone has; creating a list so we can coordinate who has what, & who needs what ~ we're all in this together, strength in numbers, oui? ;) i'll list what i specialize in & what i currently seek for my eclypse, fay & ~diva.. in that order.. ^^

I saw the cake quest finally the other night, looking over Bantam's shoulders as he played. It looks fun, and yeah the music does help cheer up the places you visit. (Quite frankly though, since they played Tails' theme, I'm shuddering at the thought of the companion piece.....) I'd like to help, but I'll most likely be busy up until the time my HL runs out. :/

Actually, the other music was the Sonic Theme. Not the intro one, but the other one. What weirds me out about those Sonic tunes is how tight the musicians are. I am not a big fan of the tunes, but I can appreciate the musicians who did the music. Very werid.

I too am in DivA's shoes with the cakes thing. Maybe it's because we quested together last night... Anyways, You need the Buttercream? I got it. Let's trade so we can complete the set!

I get Pumpkin Whippped Cream Sponge Cake from this quest. I've got cakes from DivA, Layrinn, and scu so far. Hopefully I'll see some of you online to get your cakes as well.

Hrmm....is there any way to tell which cake is which when in your inventory?? I know the woman in the quest (t3h ca3k t3kk3r) is able to identify them, but aside from "consuming" a cake....how can you tell what you've got??

Take it out of your inventory and Use It offline. You'll only want to do this offline, so you can reset the system if you don't get whatever cell you want the first time. When I got a Christmas Present last year, it took me around 5 tries to get "Heart of Devil". If it isn't what you want, you can just press the Reset button, and load your game again until you get the right Cell.

To be safe, you might as well bank you stuff, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. I've used this offline reset a few times on Christmas Presents and Easter Eggs and it works just fine. Just follow exactly as Khao as stated.

scu - well, during the hunt - we were a team of 4: myself, Vitamin D, Bantam13 & a new acquaintence ~ a cosmic FOmarl, Alexia.. ^^ we did our hunt & learned more about the cakes ~ we were informed by Alexia of the possibility of 18 different types of cake in total.. fortunately, we all had cakes that we needed & traded..

though, the 2 later ones that i posted earlier were not the ones we gained last night.. =. i'll post the newest additions since i'm at work & i cannot remember off top of my head at present; i'm building a master-list on my ibook at home.. like Mute states, to be on the safer side - it would be best to bank everything before playing the reset game.. =/ kind-of a phobia of mine, i've never trusted the soft reset where PsO was concerned, even during the DC days.. Oo

btw ~ has anyone searched for hallo rappies at the VR Temple yet? word has it that there is a high probability of them dropping jack-o-lanterns without dealing with the cakes.. =.

If you happen to run into a Hallo Rappy in the Temple, then yes, there is a very high probability that they will drop a Jack o' Lantern. Only thing is, it's probably alot easier just doing the cake quest, since rare rappies in the Temple are incredibly rare to come by. Also, the servers seem to be a little screwy as of late. For example, in the Halloween quest, sometimes the Rappies appear as Love Rappies when, in fact, they should be Hallo Rappies with pumpkin heads. I heard that someone found a Love Rappy in the Temple (which should've been a Hallo Rappy) and it dropped its rare instead of a Jack o' Lantern.

I just use the console's Reset button, myself....but that's just me.

Anyway, having both discussed the matter with ForeverZero and using my first hand experience in playing the quest with both my main characters, the cake you get is indeed set by your Guild Card/PSO in game number, meaning you'll have to look far and wide for all 18(??) varieties of cake.

I did happen to write down those I've played with and what type of cake they get (including my own), so if you need a particular one, you can bother these people on the list until they comply, lol:

AC9breaker - Strawberry Custard Spongecake
ForeverZero - Strawberry Honey Spongecake
Vitamin D - Potato Whipped Cream Chocolate Cake
Alexia - Peach Yogurt Spongecake

On the Hallo Rappies thing....there should be an easy way to get one to appear. Just go into Temple and check what map you have....depending on what you get you can roam around the first few rooms, check what rappies drop, and if there aren't any rare ones....leave and make a new game, repeating until you find one. Whether it drops something for you or not, that's another story.

I got like 8 legit Easter Eggs this way back when the Egg Rappies were online....

Oh, and yup....the servers were out of phase last night/this morning....everyone was having horrible lag or slowdown on everything....gave D some connection issues as well.

Just a note, my last full night online will likely be this coming Sunday into Monday morning....Khao has informed me that it's now too late to officially cancel my HL for November, but I doubt I'll be online w/PSO much anyway now with FFXI on it's way....still, if enough people here can set up a regular night or two to meet up, I might swing by on my nights off from adventuring through Vana'Diel.

If anyone wants to get hold of my cake in their quest for a mag cell, just let me know and I can hop online for a bit to help you out. Before hitting the forums just now I came online to find....nobody. The one night I'm around early on Friday and no one's there, ha ha ha.

DivA, just ask the DJ and FZ. I was a total dork last night. I kept asking them questions... What do I do when I get all the cakes? Where do I go? Crap, I have like 15 cakes on me, I don't know which are which. What should I do? Will I lose one if I screw it up? Phew! I got my mag cell. Now what? and on and on and on and on...
After all these years, I am still a complete and total n00b.

Let me continue on my complete n00b scene here.
I have yet to open my Jack-O-Lantern and see what's inside. I am checking out a chart of potential mag cells right now. I don't really know (or care I guess) too much about stats, I am just going for looks. I think. I don't really know yet.
My question is when should I convert a mag with this new cell? I already have raised a fairly cool V.2 mag which I like, but I also have two others that I have just begun to raise. They are around lvl 20 - 30. If I were to feed one of those mags the new cell, would it change shape (and stats) right then? Should I wait until they have done their third evolution? Once I do give the cell to the mag and it changes, do you have to worry about it changing again if you get the stats messed up?
