Since we are all so gung-ho for FFXI, I thought I would ask a question about the upcoming Crystal Chronicles game.
Does anyone know if it is playable with just one person? Would it be worth a damn? I have done some seraching to get some sort of info about this, but all I can ever get is that it is a game that allows 4 people to play at once. Nothing at all about if you just want to play alone.

yeah you can play it solo.. just means you can play with up to 4 people.. i have no idea whether you can start a game with 1 and play with 4 later on, or vice versa, though. it'd be stupid to do it that way, but this is square we're talking about.

Yeah hehe,i'm still confused about this game and what exactly the GBA comes in to play or e-readers into this.It looks pretty good so far and hopefully something different from the norm.

I think the dynamics will work out to something a'kin to the Secret of Mana, which was an up to 3 player game.

I just want to know when it will come out. If anything, I think it takes a more PSO take on the multiplayer versus single player. Meaning multiplayer is almost the same as single player, just simpler and with added goodies. For example, in multi there can be no mog to carry your crystal cage around; another player has to. Also there are the generic teamwork based things to do, hit sitches at the same time, splitting up...typical PSO stuff. Also you can teamup your spells. So if two characters cast the same spell on the same target, it becomes an upgraded version of it. Also in multi, there are secret goals, so which every player fulfills the goal, gets first pick of the end bonus.

That's what I was reading too. I read an article that said the game was very PSO like. Which is cool with me. I am not that big on turn based combat. Although I like Golden Sun for the GBA and I am going to be picking up PSO Card Battle...
Still, this FF game should be fun. I have never played any of the series before, so I have no idea about what the story is or anything. But, I am always up for killing a few monsters!
I guess I will wait and see. I really need more info about the one player aspect. None of my real friends are game players. I can't even get my wife to join in!

my problem is where the hell am i gonna find 3 people to play with? my gf and i don't have company over often, and when we do we sure as shit don't want them to sit down and play games with us. plus the gf is still in med school and doesn't have that much time to play games with me except on the weekends. and then we've got other stuff to do... o_O; haha

The most important thing to keep in mind for this game (mulitplayer wise) is that you NEED a GBA or GBASP for each player, and a GCN-GBA link cable. You can't use a normal controller unless you are playing solo.
From what I understand, anyone can just jump in at any point in the game, so you can start playing by yourself, and when your friends come over they can just plug in a GBA and have at it.

Ah, ff:cc. One of the games that broke me of PSO for awhile. (I imported it

) So yeah, you can play solo. It's about as mundane as PSO solo, but with a little more depth and story. (A lot of reviews ragged on the solo player) Also in solo, you get a moogle to help you carry the bucket and cast magic. He's rather incompentent sometimes and gets too tired often. Now the multiplayer really rocks, but only if you have the GBA/SPs. It's not that awesome to warrant buying 4 GBA/SPs. Honestly, this would have really rocked as an online game. :\ And yes, you can play with any amount of people at any given time basically.

An honest to goodness response from someone who actually owns the game!

so I thought I was somewhere that this game was coming out during December.
Now when I go and look, EBGames and GameStop both have a date of 2/9/04.
Delayed? Was I just dreaming of the December date?
Weird...

Yea, you were dreaming a december date. I was too, but then I woke up. If it were coming out in decemeber I'd be all over it. I'm kinda bugged by the lack of anything online/multi coming out recently. I don't know for the likes of me why so many companies are releasing their multiplayer titles so close to FFXI for PS2.

You made it! Congrats!
Now get out there and download that hidden chao, or that Nights game, or go visit the island, or go grab that 'other' Metroid game... or ... or... There's so much to do!
