Well, AfroForce, software is like life... It all comes down to preference. Some like Illustrator while others prefer Freehand. Some QuarkXpress and some PageMaker. I happen to like Cinema4D because it was the only program that I almost immediately understood. I have tried several others to no evail. I own Maya and I have tried Lightwave. Both are highend, but both are as confusing as all hell. Shit, I can't even draw a frickin' cube with Lightwave. And, since I am not trying to create the next Pixar movie or design videogame characters, I chose the software that I could use and enjoy. If you are interested in going down this 3D path, there are many good magazines out there to help you on your way. Plus, most of these mags offer a disk each month and usually have free software on them. 3DWorld http://www.3dworldmag.com/ is good. Digit http://www.digitmag.co.uk/ is another good one Both of these are European mags and cost about $14 an issue. ![]() And, like life, they are more PC (rather than Mac) friendly. scu is a Mac person. |
