Cover Deconstructed

Jul 30, 2008 in Rules

The Basilisk Rising Assassin has Toughness Bonus of 4, and is wearing Flak which provides 5 Armor.  His total damage soak is 9.  He is in cover behind a plastcrete wall, which has an AP of 8.  Any hits scored anywhere other than his arms and head receive an effective armor of 13; 5 for the Flak, and 8 for the cover.  Combine that with his TB of 4 for a total of 17 damage soak to his body and legs.  If you score a hit, or a called shot to his arms or head, his damage soak is only 9.  Factor in any Armor Penetration of the weapon that scores the hits.

Monsignor Severus is using a Bolt Pistol which does 1D10+5 with an Pen 4.  He shoots at the Assassin on semi auto and scores two hits, one in the right leg and one in the right arm.  He rolls an 11 and a 13 for damage.  The Assassin’s right leg damage soak is 4TB+5Armor+9AP-4PEN=14, so that shot is absorbed by the wall, but reduces the wall’s armor by 1, making the wall 7AP.  His right arm’s damage soak is 4TB+5Armor-4PEN=5, so he takes 13Damage-4TB-1AP for 8 wounds.  The Assassin has 10 wounds total and this hit reduces his wounds to 2.
